I grew up in the Midwest, but now consider the Southern Appalachians to be my home. When I'm not working, I'm working on my Master's in Communication, or cooking. I have recently gotten into Pastry, and am enjoying developing those skills with all sorts of chocolate recipes. When I can't convince my friends to let me cook for them, we enjoy movies, coffee, hiking, and eating out. My favorite thing is to host a Chocolate Party as a Holiday gift for my friends (after the Christmas insanity) with candies, cookies, pies, cakes, and so many other tasty options (this time there were 22 different "foods" plus coffee, milk, and hot chocolate).
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, always. Chocolate in many forms. I found the perfect chocolate mousse recipe on here, but also do cookies, brownies, cakes, breads, candies, you name it. Tiramisu is good for a bad day.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I've been a vegetarian for a good long while, but I undertook this with the understanding that I would be "bad" once a year for the homemade noodles my grandmother makes for Christmas, for me (with beef stock). My other grandma is known for her chili at Christmas, while we've added in the tradition of a vegetarian soup. Perhaps the best is the mini pizza's we would make for sleepovers when I was a kid.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade red sauce. A growing amount of chocolate things (mousse, vacherin, cookies, brownies, truffles).
My cooking tragedies
Pretty much any attempt involving tofu. I'm pretty sure I've lost my ability to make good meat-based dishes, I'd be afraid to try.
