About this Cook
20-something. College degree. Work in medical field.
My favorite things to cook
Soup. Holiday meals. Pasta. Meat. Hearty comfort foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother taught me to cook. My favorite thing to cook with her was bananna bread.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to cook soup that people would eat. Realizing that I know enough to cook without a recipe and still have it turn out well.
My cooking tragedies
Meat! I have to be very careful to get it right. I have better luck with the pan-to-oven combo than the grill or BBQ.

Banana Oatmeal Crumb Cake
Delicious alternative to banana nut bread! My family loved it, especially when we added a sweetened dairy component to the top. Highly recommend (just with a bit of ice cream or whipped cream)!

Grilled or Fried Skirt Steak
Good recipe if you have this cut of meat and you are short on time. Didn't make my husband say "Wow!", but will make again. We added about 1/2 tsp garlic powder to give it more flavor.

Swedish Meatballs (Svenska Kottbullar)
Delish! I used regular milk instead of cream, and I left out the sour cream, and they were still fantastic. I also used 1 cup panko breadcrumbs, as I don't usually have white bread in my house. My mother used a package mix to make these when I was young, and the spices are right on, but this is much better.
