Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
These cookies were great, once I figured out how to work the dough. I chilled the dough for 4 hours hoping it wouldn't be so delicate but it didn't work. You really have to have a soft touch with this one. It is important to have the right thickness to have a smooth transition from countertop to baking sheet without ruining the shape of the uncooked cookie. Regardless of its delicate nature, a great cookie. Soft and chewy.

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
I love this recipe. I had to make additional batter, about 2 1/2 times the original amount (we like a good coating). I also dipped the raw hot dog in flour before dipping it into the batter, which I also put in a tall cup. Great recipe.

Broiled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2006
Well, my kids and I really liked this recipe but my husband did not. He felt it was too dry. I will try this in my crockpot the next time to see if he would love it. I also cut the ketchup to 1/2c. and substituted the chili powder for a 1/2 t. cayenne pepper. Again, I loved it.

My family loved this recipe. It's a great combination of sweet and creamy. Not too much of either. This recipe is a keeper!

Pork Roast with Thyme

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
This was my first time making a pork roast. The meat was very tender but didn't seem to have much flavor. I rarely eat pork so I am unsure what to expect. I cooked it in a crockpot for 7 hours on low and added 1/3 c. water (to tone down the vinegar). The juices smelled great but it didn't seem to really get into the meat as I had hoped. I will probably make again & try the oven.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: May 27, 2006
My family and I really enjoyed this. I used a hand full of grape tomato cut in half instead of the roma and found that quite pleasing. I also sauteed the mushrooms with my own seasonings for added flavor. I wasn't expecting the sour cream to add so much flavor! For me the alfredo flavor really didn't set in until the sour cream was added. Great recipe. Will use many times again!

Artichoke Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2006
This recipe makes A LOT! Except for using half the sour cream and cream cheese, I followed the recipe as listed. I did not find this to be very satisfying. The flavor I was looking for wasn't shining through. It was very thick and tasted too much like cream cheese. I find it hard to believe that 150+ people are wrong so I'll chalk it up to my own error somewhere. Either way, I don't plan on trying this one again.

Boston Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
I was not too pleased with the outcome on this one. It was my first attempt at baked beans and I think I may have failed and not the recipe. I tried it in the crockpot but I believe I loaded the pot with too many beans (I doubled the recipe) so it was still very watery after 9 hours of cooking on high. I tried to thicken it with flour and water and that didn't work. SO I think I may try it again at a later date and hopefully I can edit my rating to 4 stars or more!

Soft Onion Sandwich Rolls

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2006
The first time I made these I only let them rise once, which I didn't realize that at the time. They came out only about 1/2" thick. But I served them thinking that's how they were supposed to be. My husband loved it. I have made them several times now and continue to let them rise once. I also leave out the onion ingredients. They tasted awesome the next day toasted with butter too, like an english muffin. My husband insists they be the sandwich bread & hamburger bun of choice.

Pork Chops and Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2006
I am going to give this 4 stars although I am truly undecided. I have a problem with the flavor. I added to the chops Mrs. Dash, garlic & onion powder, season salt, pepper and salt and still felt it was lacking. My husband came to the same conclusion. It's missing something. I just can't figure it out. Cheese soup maybe? I don't know. The potatoes are yummy but the chops need something more. Maybe a slow cooker?? We both like it enough to make it again but I'll need to work on additional flavor.

Honey Glazed Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2006
My ENTIRE family (down to my 9 month old) loved this dish. Others mentioned that there was too much oil. I love the taste of sesame oil so I went with the full portion. It was great. HOWEVER, when using the juices to make a gravy it was evident that there was too much oil. So, as a marinade and cooking liquid, it's great as is. BUT if you are wanting to finish with a sauce I'd cut back quite a bit on the sesame. I think this would be fantastic on chicken and maybe even a beef roast... YUMMY.

You can't go wrong with these rolls. They are fantastic and a Thanksgiving family must have!! I suggest bumping the salt to at least 1 1/4 t.

Honeyed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
We all LOVED LOVED LOVED this meal it was fantastic! Because I was feeling too lazy to chop the onion I THINLY sliced the onion and made a bed of it for the chops to lay on and poured the sauce over the top of it all.Once the chops were cooked I strained the drippings and made a sauce by making a roux with 1 T. butter and 1 T. flour then added the drippings. The onions were an added treat (if you don't mind cooked onions). So sweet and tender. Served with Japanese-Style Sesame Green Beans (also on this site), mandarin oranges and plain white rice. WOW. As another suggested, it would be great to mix some of the sauce in with the rice (rather than just piling it on top). SO SO SO Yummy.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
This recipe makes a wonderful loaf. It is very moist and delicious. After cooling in the pan for 10 minutes and another 10 on a cooling rack I found it to be very soft. I think if you allowed it to cool longer it will set up enough for a clean cut. Love this recipe, thanks for sharing!
