Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2009
The filling makes more than I expected. I bought a prepared crust--your basic shell--and had about 1 1/2 cups left over after the crust was filled completely. I recommend getting the crust that has the 2 extra servings. Also, 2 (14 oz) cans of sweetened condensed milk is not enough. It leaves you about 1/2 c. short. If you don't plan for this (which I didn't) you can use this substitute: combine over medium heat 3/4 c. evaporated milk & 3/4 c. sugar heat until dissolved. Use only what you need. The taste overall is a little sweeter than I like for a key lime pie but that might be due to the substitution. I also never got the bubbles to pop as stated in the recipe and ended up cooking it almost 15 minutes before I just took it out and am hoping for the best. ...

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Excellent!! I love that it makes 3 loafs at once! It's fantastic! Keep one (or two) for yourself and give the other to a neighbor. Love it! I used all purpose flour and it worked perfectly!

So yummy! I love the crumb topping but I think I would prefer to have double the crumbs. So good. Great on Banana Bread too!

World's Best Lasagna

I felt the sauce was far too thick. Since I like things a little saucier, I will cut the meat back by half. The taste in general is very yummy but for me there was too much meat. Otherwise a great recipe.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
I did not care for this much--and neither did the family. Although I can see so much potential; we did not like the salsa flavor. It was overpowering. I used a salsa that we eat all the time so in other cases we love the salsa it just didn't work with this dish. I think if you cut back on the salsa it would leave the rice flavorless. I dunno maybe I'll try to mess with it again in the future. But for now, I will keep searching.

French Baguettes

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2009
Fantastic!! I used a Kitchenaid mixer and followed the advice of adding the salt later in the recipe and put 1/4 cup of water in the oven as it baked. Loved the chewy crust. I think one of the suggestions says to bake immediately and eliminate the 2nd rising process (perhaps I misunderstood). I did this and although the bread was truly wonderful, you could see each layer of rolled dough in the finished process. I did not like that so I will let it rise a second time to see if that fixes that problem. It's been dubbed 'my best bread ever'.

These are tasty treats. Everyone, young and old, loved them. They are great even without the chocolate/butterscotch mixture. You can't go wrong, either way!

Good flavor. Everyone liked them. I used chili powder instead of cayenne since I was out and used half the brown sugar. It was nice. I will make with cayenne next time to make sure there is a little kick to it.

So Yummy! Don't pass this one up! The flavor is great. I used 1 bag of milk chocolate chips instead of the semi-sweet squares. Great recipe!

Chocolate Trifle

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
FANTASTIC!! As suggested, I whipped my own topping (half pint of cream with 3 T. sugar)and folded it into the pudding and used french vanilla cool-whip for the cool-whip layer. I also added half a jar of caramel topping to the brownies before I cooked them. It was more than a hit! I was requested to make a double batch the next time I bring it. Even though it is rich, they couldn't get a big enough piece. I plan to exchange the french vanilla cool-whip layer for homemade whipped topping in the future.

Love it! This is a great copy cat of Macaroni Grill's dish. Truly a delightful dish! I only changed one thing: I added sauteed mushrooms to the final sauce before serving.

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
I used this on chicken; marinated for about 30 minutes and used my George Foreman grill. Pretty good but I needed some type of sauce for dipping. So I found a honey mustard sauce from this site and it was WONDERFUL. Will do again!
