How I came to be here and why I stayed!

I came to find Allrecipes when doing a search for recipes online. That was in 2005. Since then I have used Allrecipes as my go to site when it comes to cooking!  I couldn't imagine my life without it.
One summer I spent the whole summer experimenting with a new recipe everyday! It was great! My DH especially enjoyed it. His only problem was that I never repeated any of his favorites. It was alot of fun. (I especially enjoyed hearing him brag to everyone that would listen...he still does every now and then!!!)
I have gotten most of my cooking experience through Allrecipes. My mother never let me in the kitchen, not that I ever really tried. It wasn't until I was married and on my own that I actually began to cook, using a recipe book. Since then I have come to love it. I love the praise I receive when something is successful. I am usually my biggest critic even when my family loves the dish. There always seems to be something I feel I could of done better.
The variety of recipes that Allrecipes offers is amazing. Originally that is what kept me coming back. I loved reading the reviews and looking at all of the great pictures. However in recent years I have come to love the Buzz. Everyone is always so helpful. When I find myself stumped I turn to the fantastic people there to help me out! Many times during the week I get calls from friends asking ME how to do something or what I would do. It is a great compliment to me that they think I am that good of a cook, that I would have the answer!
I look forward to reviewing recipes and love snapping pictures of my food. Not that I always post the pictures...some just aren't worthy to be put up! Many times I find myself taking pictures from every angle possible in every light possible only to delete all of them as they just aren't as good as I thought they should be! My family gets a big kick out of me photographing food!
I can honestly say I don't think I would be the cook I am without Allrecipes!!!

My daughter recommended allrecipes to me when I was new to the internet in 2007. She said to type in the ingredients at hand and recipes would pop up. It has been very useful in all aspects of meal preparation. There are great community connections on the Buzz. It has warmed my heart to be here too.

About Me
I have been married since 1995 and have 3 children. I started really cooking after I got married. I love hearing how great my cooking is. My kids are my best complimenters. I love talking to people about cooking and food! I have turned many non-cookers into cooks. My closest friend, for the longest time thought that baking a plain chicken breast was gourmet at its finest. I subscribed her to Taste of Home and introduced her to Allrecipes and now she cooks up a storm and its actually edible!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking most anything. During tomato season my favorite thing would be spaghetti sauce. During the Fall, I really enjoy soup and at the holidays it would be the pies and cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
At the holidays I have always helped my mom do the baking. It wasn't until the last few years that I realized how much I truly enjoy this. I am trying to engage my children more in the kitchen. I am not always the most tolerant when it comes to this but I am making a great effort to include them. I am hoping that some day they will remember the time they spent with me in the kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
I made pies for Christmas one year at my In-laws house, it was great. Everyone raved and compared me to my husbands grandma, who passed away a couple of years ago. She was a truly fantastic cook and to be compared to her was wonderful.
My cooking tragedies
I remember trying to make a Pineapple Chicken dish when I was 16 for me and my brother. It was awful. The taste just wasn't right and the rice was undercooked. Needless to say the trash got more to eat than we did.
