I thought I was allergic to Soy because of some bad experiences with protein drinks.  But I tried this Soy scramble yesterday and it was so good I had one today.  It's crazy easy, extra firm tofu chunked sauteed with Portabella babies with dijon mustard and a few seasonings and I put some… MORE

So as you know I'm learning to cook.  I have my new cookbook, "The Happy Herbivore" and tried today the simplest recipe in it which was a black bean soup.  (drain / rinse beans + salsa + broth + seasonings / blender it all up, cook)  Well it was delicious!  But I made too much.  When the… MORE

Tonight I ordered, 'Nutritional Yeast' to cook with.  I don't know what it is, what it does or what it tastes like but it is a primary ingredient in many recipes in my new cookbook, The Happy Herbivore.  I can't wait to try it!  The Happy Herbivore cookbook is explaining to me a lot about… MORE

What is your go-to recipe when yourself or your family falls ill?  We all have a cold / flue bug corresponding to the start of the new school year.  I'm lucky enough not to be sick yet!  We've already done chicken soup (Miso soup for me), a Pork Tenderloin (new potatoes and veggies for… MORE

I am moving into a new rental house this weekend and am browsing for some slow cooker Vegan recipes to have on hand so I can dodge the Pizza Hutt bullet.  I know it's coming.  Someone always orders pizza during a move.   My current home is a 110 year old historical landmark near a beach in… MORE

Let me first carefully avoid any coffee debate!  Yes I've been told that black is the only way to properly drink coffee.  Yup - been told that using K-Cups in my Keurig is sacrilege that I should have my beans professionally roasted and grind them.  And coffee? I should be drinking something… MORE

Do you have food you go to when sick?Coke and crackers.  Oh' how you're good to me when I'm sick.  I'll probably have some warmed vegetable broth later with a little organic Miso.  Steamed vegetables and rice for supper if I can hold it down.  Coke isn't on my diet and I agree with anyone… MORE

I joined All Recipes with the premium subscription to get the most from planning healthy meals - albeit today my daughter and I made some great chocolate chip cookies!  I'm a runner and am trying to lose a few pounds before my next race.  I don't like meat very much so Paleo and Atkins makes… MORE

About Me
Lives in the Rainforest on the coast of Oregon. Began Vegan path mid August of 2014. Born in 1975 on a farm where cooking was part of daily life. Holds three art degrees.
My favorite things to cook
I like to invent tasty vegetable dishes. I love seasoning. Next to that I really love pancakes and cooking them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
At Christmas time all the women would gather at my Grandma's and we would make fudge and Christmas cookies. Grandma would prepare a feast some Sundays and always Holidays with home made bread, deserts like pie, and home made noodles.
My cooking triumphs
Home made bread.
My cooking tragedies
My Lager head stew the other night. Although I'm Vegan I made a beef stew for the family and they unanimously hated it.
