I'm crazy for seasonings!  So today I just wanted to find out, what's your favorite? I've noticed in cookbooks I read by specific authors there is usually one seasoning they throw in more than any other, a seasoning that gets way over used.  Maybe everyone has a favorite? Are you proud to… MORE

I have a fever. I had a nap today before noon. I'm still in my PJ's and it's after three pm. I've had a lot of medicine today, prescribed, OTC and supplements.  I've spent a lot of time in the restroom. Drank a lot of water.  It's an average day for me, another unproductive mysterious… MORE

Oh! Shakespeare what is in an egg noodle recipe that confounds, confuses and causes so many tutorials to be written - yet many wander in darkness afraid to roll a noodle?  For this recipe I hit the tutorials.  I watched acres of You Tube (yeah I know what an acre is, but isn't it a cool… MORE

Using my powers of cooking for good today I showed my son (14 yrs) how he could enjoy a bowl of Ramon Noodles with a ton of flavor and no unnatural MSG added.  I showed him how he could make a quick sauce with a base of vegetable broth and Miso (or Soy Sauce) and add a few ingredients to make… MORE

A Tale of Sadness. If you remember the incident with the snowmen, you know that my cookie making had severe setbacks this year.  Armed with new sugar cookie recipes I set out to make a better cookie - but still suffered flat, yet tasty, cookies. I had to blame my butter.  I use Tilamook… MORE

I cooked so much food this Christmas Eve and Christmas I've actually made my family sick.  They're like: NO MORE.  NO MORE FOOD.  NO MORE RECIPES YOU MUST TRY.  Okay -- I'm taking a break and will fix that amazing ham tonight.  :-)!  Yesterday I made Tirimasu which is kinda like a cheese cake.… MORE

About Me
Lives in the Rainforest on the coast of Oregon. Started collecting cookbooks and learning to cook in August 2014.
My favorite things to cook
I like to invent and otherwise cook tasty vegetable dishes. I love seasoning and collect herbs. Salad can be interesting! I'm also a big fan of deserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love to cook with my kids, aged 14 (boy)& 17 (girl). My daughter almost always prepares a dish or two and my son expedites, organizes and helps out. As a family we ask, "how can we do this better?" And everything keeps improving.
My cooking triumphs
Tirimasu at Christmas is the most exotic recipe I've tried so far.
My cooking tragedies
I still cook some from boxes for things like cakes, waffles, etc. **sniff, sniff, cry of shame**
