About this Cook
Hi! My name is Rachel and I love cooking, especially baking. I first started cooking very young with my mom. I used a butter knife to cut, and I climbed on a chair to see over the countertop. Now I've moved on from the butter knife and chair and I love baking desserts when I'm in the mood for one. I like experimenting with the recipes and tweaking them to my taste. =D
My favorite things to cook
Desserts and stir-frys!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everyone in my family except my dad loves to cook together and we always have good times in the kitchen creating some kind of dish.
My cooking triumphs
People usually really like what I bring to potlucks, and that's because of Allrecipes, I only choose recipes with 5 stars.
My cooking tragedies
Hehe, once when I was about 10, I tried making custard with egg-replacer, because we had no eggs. That did NOT work out and the gross mixture bubbled over in the oven and made a mess!

Grandma Johnson's Scones
I used these to make shortcake for strawberry shortcake and they turned out amazing! I made them vegan for my family and was suprised at how well they hold together and weren't too cake-y. I used 1 cup of Vegenaise instead of sour cream, and 1/4 cup of apple sauce instead of the egg and followed the directions of the other reviews. Tasted great!

Blueberry Lemon Bread
This recipe was wonderful! I followed the directions and it turned out perfect, the people at my church loved it! It wasn't too sweet or too sour, it probably could have used another tablespoon of lemon juice. I also would add another half cup or 1 cup of blueberries next time. For the glaze, I used Xylitol, which is a suger substitute that is good for the teeth and tastes just like suger, only a little sweeter. Thanks for the recipe! =D

Urban Legend Chocolate Chip Cookies
These cookies are soft! I love them! Instead of eggs (I'm a veggietarian) I use 1/4 cup of applesauce per egg. Not only does it act like an egg, it makes it even more moist!! Try it out!
