About this Cook
My cooking tragedies
Chocolate Flan! I've tried every recipe on this site and cannot get it right! The cream cheese makes it too thick and heavy. The heavy cream leaves fat deposits on top of my flan. And I've burned myself everytime trying to maneuver the water bath in and out of the oven without spilling the water into the flan (which I sometimes do anyway). I finally gave up trying to make a flan I like and just buy the three-dollar-a-serving-stuff at the local mexican restaurant. Wish I could make mind like they make theirs! :(

Lemon Cake with Lemon Filling and Lemon Butter Frosting
The star of this recipe is the frosting. Its light, fluffy, and the perfect sweetness/lemon tang. The cake is mild which pairs perfectly with the tart lemon curd (I made the Microwave Lemon Curd on this site for more speed and less dishes). Husband loved his lemon birthday cake!

Chi Chi Dango Mochi
Very authentic!!! A few tips: I would recommend cooking for longer than one hour. I cooked it for one hour and the middle was still unset and doughy. Maybe add another 15 min. Also, the finished product tastes best when its been in the fridge for a day or two before eating. It gives the moisture time to even out and "set" the mochi pieces. I added azuki (sweet red beans) to my mochi by dropping spoonfuls of it over the top of the mochi batter before baking. I used a sharp metal knife sprayed with cooking spray and it didn't stick at all.

Sage Pork Chops
Very flavorful! I like the complex flavors using such simple ingredients. I'll make these again for sure.
