Champagne Punch III

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
WOW! This is fantastic!!! So light and tasty, it really doesn't taste like there is any alcohol at all. A friend made this for a baby shower and I could have drank the entire bowl! I can't wait to make this for another event. I think it would be perfect for a bridal shower or any brunch/lunch event. Fantastic! Thank you for posting!!

White Peach Sangria

Reviewed: May 8, 2005
Very good! Not a hit like the classic spanish sangria on this site was though. But very good and was still gone in the end. Made a double batch and used the peach schnapps/brandy recommendations which was great. Also used raspberries with the peaches & grapes. Grapes went uneaten in the end, so may use other fruits in the next batch

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2012
Great recipe! Simple and easy, and had most things on hand. I cut down on the recipe thinking we didn't have enough chicken (we only had 3 breasts). We should have made the full amount, and I would even make more probably next time. We were only able to marinade for about 20 minutes, and the taste was still fantastic!! The sweetness really penetrated the chicken, but wasn't overly sweet. Really, Really good recipe. In the rotation for sure! Or, as my husband said, it will make the cut to be in our recipe rolodex! :) Thanks!

Roasted Garlic Cauliflower

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
This recipe is incredible!! I love everything about it. SO easy, so tasty...just perfect! Sad to admit, but I will eat the entire dish for dinner when I'm home alone. Actually, it's every time I've made it! :) I think even people that don't *love* cauliflower raw would enjoy this. I stick to the recipe except now I just eyeball the ingredients. I never have fresh parsley, so haven't used that. Thanks for posting!! One of our regular favorites!!

Classic Spanish Sangria

Reviewed: May 7, 2005
I made this for a party we had, and doubled the recipe. We also had a white sangria but THIS was the hit! Everyone loved it. Instead of using citrus, we used papaya, strawberry, mango which was amazing! You will love this recipe, 1 batch isn't enough!

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
This rice is amazing! So easy to make and really tasty. Even my husband said it was much better than any of the boxed stuff. Actually, it's probably just as much work (or less) than boxed rice but this is much tastier, less salt and obviously cheaper! This will be one of our go to staples from now on. Love it!!

Butternut Squash Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2011
Loved this dish! So easy to make and really tasty. I do have to admit we made quite a few changes...I used an entire onion, which was maybe a tad too much but I love onion! We don't like blue cheese, and so tossed some parmesan on top of the bread crumbs. Loved it! I think I'm the one that ate the majority of the dish but we will make it again for sure! Thanks!

Split Pea Soup with Rosemary

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2011
I have to say I was very skeptical of this recipe being that the cooking time was so much shorter than I'm used to in the crock pot!. i was craving split pea soup, and it was much too late to use the crock pot, so I tried this one! I loved it! The peas turned out perfectly cooked, and the flavor was just as I hoped it would be. The consistency was perfect, not too watery or thick. I didn't have leeks or bacon, and I was leery of using garlic, since I didn't want an overly garlic flavor. It was perfect for me! Thanks!!

Hash Brown Egg Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
Recipe was really easy to make, kind of plain. We skipped the bacon, and added more cheese and one extra egg as suggested. I used potatoes o'brien so had peppers and onions in it. Could have used something to add some more flavor, more seasoning or onions or something. Really simple in a pinch, but not the best I've ever had.

Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
I would say 4 1/2 stars. I did make some changes, used 1/2 water and 1/2 chicken stock. Added some crushed red pepper, and omitted the vinegar and spinich. My daughter has celiac and so we are always looking for something good and easy that is gluten free. With the GF stock, this was a great dish completely gluten free and lots of protein and fiber from the lentils. I used my immersion blender and blended the soup at the end. Reserved about 1/2 of the lentils for texture--could have pulled out more for a chunkier soup. All in all a great soup, needed a little more doctoring but my entire family enjoyed it very much! Healthy and great tasting! Thanks

Ken's Perfect Hard Boiled Egg (And I Mean Perfect)

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2012
I gave this a 3 because while it does make great hard boiled eggs, it is terrible for eggs you will dye! The vinegar or salt must break down the outer shell, so that trying to dye them the eggs look strange and some of the dyed egg shells slough off. I will use this recipe if I ever boil eggs, but will sadly have to find another recipe to boil eggs when I wish to dye them (which is most often the case for us...)

Corny Corn Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2009
Overall pretty good corn bread. I like the idea of kernels of corn in the bread. I only had one can, and that was a good amount. I didn't add any onion, and didn't miss that at all. I only had about 1 1/2 cups of cornmeal, so I added a full cup of flour (gluten free). I heeded the advice, and cut the oil to 1/2 cup. It still was too greasy for my taste. There was a slick layer on the top that I sopped up with a paper towel. It was a little dry and I would have liked it a little sweeter. I'm thinking maybe next time I'll completely omit the oil, and use a cup of applesauce, to cut down on the calories and add a little sweetness. I pulled out after 25 minutes, and it was too done. It was pretty dark brown on the bottom, and dark on the top. Next time may check after 20 mins. Overall, could be a good recipe. Items are easy to get and were all on hand. A few tweaks could make this a keeper!

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2012
This was so bland! I followed the recipe to a T, and found it very bland. I added more soy and seasonings at the end of cooking, and still wasn't enough. Not sure how it got so many great reviews! I think you could skip the cornstarch too. I think I'll keep looking for the perfect stir fry recipe.

White Chili with Ground Turkey

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2010
Took some suggestions from others and used 4 cups broth, used a little less cheese and cinnamon. Still super watery...Kept adding cornstarch to thicken. I wouldn't use any more than 3 cups if you want a chili and not soup. Bottom line is it was bland. We had to add everything we could think of to give it flavor. Very disappointed and will go back to my standard recipe with good old chili powder and kidney beans/tomatoes.
