Clam Sauce with Linguine

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
I've made some adjustments to our family's taste. This is great basic recipe and fun for viewers tweak here and there! This is what I did: 1) I half and halved with butter and olive oil. 2) then added pinch of red pepper flakes for heat 3) in addition to garlic, I had 1 large shallot minced ( I wanted more flavor!) 4) then after browning shallot & garlic, I had 2 pounds of fresh clam on shell that I bought from fish market, so I drop them in the pot along with 2 can clams with juice! 5) I'm addition, I also poured in 1/3 cup of white wine 6) finally, I added 2 fresh roma tomatoes, peeled and diced, and follow the remaining recipe as shown. I let it simmered enough to reduce the sauce and it was SOOOOOOOOOO DELICIOUS!!! FLAVORFUL!!! My hubby literally drank the remaining sauce on his plate!!! Thanks for teaching me the basic of linguini with clams!! :)

Albondigas

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2013
Ok,,, so minor adjustments, since our family loves full flavor! I used chef johns meatball recipe which is also found on this site. And instead of adding meatballs to boiling broth, I browned them in olive oil, constantly shaking my Dutch oven to brown all sides as much as I can. When when they were brown, I deglazed them with wine white, a good half cup. Then I follow the recipe as written. As the other reviewers suggested, I too added some celery, only because I had on hand and white rice! Oh!!! And I used beef broth over bullion. This was hearty meal and sooooo delicious!! I served with garlic toast!! Thank you

Italian Sausage, Peppers, and Onions

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2013
I wanted make it more saucy, and more flavor. Before carmelizing the onion, I added some pepper flakes for heat, and when done sautéing the veggies, I had several vine perfectly ripped tomatoes (that I boiled and peel the skin then diced) so I added for sauciness. Because I didn't have sweet sausage, I added brown sugar for sweetness, all done in Dutch oven, and let it simmer for an hour. I tripled the wine and like other viewers said, I used olive oil over butter. This was hot and sweet with ton of flavor!!!!!! Of course I served it with garlic pasta and the boys literally licked the plate!!!! Awesome!! Another jewel recipe to my folder!!! Thank you!! (^__^)v

Perfect Sushi Rice

Reviewed: May 14, 2013
I had to make some california rolls for my son's field trip today, and this rice came out PERFECT!!! I used brown rice using pressurized cooker, and of course it came out great. I personally recommend brown rice if you have pressurized rice cooker. Then in replace of veggie oil, I substituted with sesame oil. And I also added some dashi for more flavor. This was FANTASTIC!!!!! My 7 year old son loved it so much that we ate the leftover for snack and dinner!!! Thank you for the recipe!

Salmon and Asparagus with Penne and Light Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2013
Great recipe, though I adjusted here and there to reduce the calorie amount, and to work around the recipes I have in hand at home. 1) I didn't have heavy cream nor do I want to use one, I use the reduced fat milk I had in the fridge. When cooking salmon and asparagus, I left out the garlic to make gravy for later use. After I scooped up salmon and asparagus to a warm plate, I added garlic and lightly browned them. Once browned, I added a tablespoon of flour, let it soak up the juice, and when done, I added some white wine, milk and water to thicken the sauce. And when the sauce got thicken, is when I mixed all the rest of the ingredients. Though, I didn't use up the rest of the recipes like cheese, dried dill, or heavy cream, this came out delicious and with whole lots of less calories than what original recipe calls for. Parsley did just fine in replace of dill! I will make this again and again. Thank you for sharing your recipe!

Non-fat Honey Mustard Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2013
Exellent recipe!!! I used Oiko's plain Greek yogurt. I didn't have spicy brown mustard or honey on hand, so instead I replaced them with maple syrup ( Which is 40 calories fewer than honey when measuring 1/4 cup ), and I used yellow mustard which has 0 calories. Now, for each serving about 1/6 cup comes out to 27 calories per serving!!! Wuah~~~~ Not to mention, super delicious!!! Thank you for sharing your recipe!! Will use this again and again!!!

Chocolate Applesauce Cake III

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2013
Oh my my my~~~ This is so good! I'm literally stuffing my face all over it!!! Ok, I did reduce the sugar like the reviewers recommended. That too and I didn't have unsweetened cocoa or the apple sauce, they're both already sweetened. I did fold in my left over godiva truffles I had from my birthday gift along with walnuts. Please~~~~ they are so moist and delicious!!!! I will make them again, but next time, I can reduce some more sugar and add more cocoa powder since the cocoa powder is already sweetened and want some more rich chocolate flavor. Thank you for the recipe!!!

Slow Cooker Ground Beef Barbecue

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
I followed recipe exactly, but bit salty for my taste. Maybe next time, I'll omit the salt. It was better with my toast. I will make again, but with moderation from other viewers to add some cumin or little bit of taco seasoning? Thank you for the recipe!

No Guilt Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2013
This recipe provides the base, so that people like me can tweak a bit to adjust to my flavor. 1) I used Oikos Greek fat free yogurt, and I drained for 24 hours. I guess because of it's rich texture, I really thought this was cream cheese! 2) I mixed in little bit of fat free cream cheese. So it was 7/10 yogurt 3/10 cream cheese. 3) I used oreo waffles, since that's what I had in my hand, and of course, without the cream filling it's only 30 calories for 2 waffles. Yay!! 4) I used sweetner in replace of sugar to reduce some more calories. Then I had some left over macademia brittle, so I grinded some to blend it in to the yogurt mixture. Ok, right now, it's in the cooling stage, but can't wait to eat them! I've tried, but it's nice and firm!! Nothing like eggy with greek yogurts!! Thank you for the recipe!!! I will make again and again!!

Baking Powder Biscuits I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2013
The things I changed. 1) I used coconut oil instead of shortening. 2) I added a table spoon of sugar 3) I used reduced fat milk instead of regular milk to cut down the calories. They turned out sooooo perfect!!!!! Nice and hard on the outside and moist and soft in the inside. But with the coconut oil and sugar makes this so much better!!! Yum yum~~ This is keeper X 10~~~ Thank you for the recipe!!
