Tainted Fruit Shots

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2009
My cousin, the gelatin shot queen, taught me the trick of lightly spraying the cups with ***original Pam***...(only original Pam works she says), before adding the liquid. The shots will slide out like they are supposed to. Bottoms up!

Ramen Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
Yummy. I omit the almonds due to allergy, but followed the recipe otherwise. Light and crunchy with a subtle vinegar bite. We had this with pork barbeque sandwiches and hash brown potato casserole. Great summer fare.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
Very good. Will definitely make again. I used skinless, boneless thighs, so baked at 400 degrees - 20 min. covered and 20 minutes uncovered. Also, I lined my baking dish with Reynolds non-stick foil...and I'm glad I did. No mess.

Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
Very good. Very easy. I used 2 tsp. minced garlic (from a jar) and butter. The garlic smelled very strong while cooking, but it tasted mild. I used Parmigiano Reggiano, good grief that is expensive cheese....I've never bought it before. Anyway, I digress. I will make this again.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2009
Chicken perfection. Made exactly as written. The paprika gave the skin a beautiful color, although I don't eat the skin. I will definitely put this in my All-Recipes binder of my "keepers".

Pork Chops with Raspberry Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2009
I made this for the fam tonight. I followed the recipe exactly, except I added a small amount of corn starch (mixed in cold water) to slightly thicken up the sauce. We all enjoyed it, along with strawberry-spinach salad and mashed potatoes.

Aunt Teen's Creamy Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2008
I have never made fudge before. I have eaten perfect, smooth, creamy fudge, AND yucky, gritty, hard fudge. This recipe made some of the best fudge I have ever tasted. My husband agreed. I couldn't believe I made it!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
Phenomenal! Had extended family of 10 over and everone raved. Husband said it was the best barbeque I have ever made. I used Famous Dave's Rich and Sassy sauce. I only used the crock pot. I will definitely make this again.

Bob's Awesome Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2008
I have been making this recipe for years. It is a recipe that you really don't have to measure anything...just assemble...plus I happen to love jarred pasta sauce. The secret to cutting and serving a lasagne square that doesn't fall apart, is to let it set up for about 20-30 minutes after removing it from the oven. I use an extra jar of sauce for "gravy" to pour over the top.

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
Months ago, my teenage daughter raved about "cake balls" she had at a friends house. She explained them to me...but I just couldn't seem to grasp the concept. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon this recipe. I made lemon cake/cream cheese frosting, dipped in white chocolate. Review: too time consuming, toooo sweet. Great idea, but it just didn't work for me. I won't make them again.....but my daughter liked them.

Speedy Ice Cream

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2008
On a whim, immediately after reading this recipe, I went to the kitchen to make it. It sounded like a fun thing to do on a hot August day. I did sub granulated Splenda (the kind used for baking)and 1% milk for a low cal version. I also have a good quality vanilla. This tastes just like "snow" ice cream, as those of you who live in climates that experience snow have probably eaten at some point in your life. It brought back great childhood memories of fresh fallen snow, transformed into delicious frozen sweetness. I thank you for that.

Cucumber-Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
This recipe is very similar to the mango salsa served on a Mexican chain restaurant's Mango Salad (the manager told me how to make it). In that recipe they add some chopped red pepper, red onion instead of white, and don't use garlic. So, I use red onion, add chopped red pepper, and omit the garlic. It is very refreshing, and I now have mango salsa cravings! Hint: If you don't want to peel and dice mangos, many grocery stores have bags of chopped mango in the frozen fruit section, however it is a little pricey.

World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2008
Excellent sauce recipe. This was my first attempt with homemade pasta sauce. My FIL had a bountiful tomato crop this year, so the only change I made was subbing fresh peeled and seeded tomatoes instead of canned. We had him over for dinner and he approved!

Smooth Sweet Tea

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2008
EXCELLENT! Smooth Sweet Tea, just like the title states. My husband craves sweet tea. (He currently likes McDonald's Sweet tea.) We had been buying sweet tea from McAlister's Deli....but it was $5.50 a gallon. Then we discovered White Castle sold ConTea Sweet Tea (very good) by the gallon for $2.99. We would buy one gallon of sweet and one gallon of unsweet about once a week. I could never make good tea! Always bitter. I just made this yesterday, and I must report that this is awesome, and I can now make it for pennies a gallon!

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2008
Surprisingly tasty. I marinaded (marinated?)the chicken 24 hours and used boneless chicken thighs. Maybe a little too much oil in marinade for me. I will cut back on the oil next time.

Sangria! Sangria!

Reviewed: May 20, 2008
Lieke other reviewers, I used Taylor Lake Country Red, econo-jug-inexpensive wine. I used rum instead of brandy, because I didn't have any brandy. Otherwise, followed the ingredients. Didn't water down with anything carbonated. The Bunco-babes and I loved it, especially after three glasses each. It will definitely creep up on you. Warning to peri-menopausal women: may lead to hot flashes.

Taco Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2008
Teenage daughter, husband, and I rate this recipe as OK. It was a preview- trial recipe, deciding if I would make this for the BUNCO girls. Conclusion: OK for a quick family supper, but I would not fix for "the girls".

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
Although these cookies taste phenomenol, I was disappointed by how much they spread out. I refrigerated overnight, rolled cookies to 1/2 inch thickness, and cut with heart cutouts. The dough is easy to work with, with minimal sticking when rolled between two pieces of wax paper. However, after cooking, my perfect hearts more closely resembled someone's behind (seriously). So instead of having cute Valentine hearts for my hubby, I now have "butt-cheeks". Hmmmmm. Not quite what I intended.....or did I?

Made this for the Bunco girls. WOW! Everyone loved it. I'm making it again this weekend for my daughter's 16th birthday. (her request) I topped it with the Satiny Chocolate Glaze that other reviewers mentioned.
