I am a happily married stay-at-home-mom to 7 beautiful children ranging in age from 17 to 2, with 4 boys and 3 girls. I love to cook, and have been doing just that ever since I was quite young. My grandmother and my mother were both excellent cooks, and each taught me many valuable tips, methods and recipes over the years. I love cooking for family get-togethers, and I take great pride in preparing healthy and delicious meals for my loved ones.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite thing to make is a huge batch of sauteed veggies, consisting of sliced zucchini, yellow squash, mushrooms, red, yellow and green sweet peppers, onions, minced garlic and salt. I can then serve it over pasta with a dab of sour cream and some grated parmesan cheese, or wrapped in tortillas as tacos or in a pan with a light sauce for enchiladas, or even as a topping for our pizza. We all love it, including each of my kids, which of course makes me even happier since I know they are getting lots of good-for-you vegetables. I also love trying new recipes since you never know what amazing dish you will come across, and there are so many new and delicious ones out there still waiting for me to make them!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We sit down every single night as a family for supper, all of us. It keeps us connected as a family no matter what else is going on throughout the day.
My cooking triumphs
I am currently working on mastering our outdoor grill, and was so excited to make grill bread for the first time, it was delicious and has since become our favorite summer grilling recipe. I also made grilled pizza a few nights later and it was also just as yummy. I don't know why I thought it would be hard to make grill bread/pizza, but it's easier than I ever thought.
My cooking tragedies
I tried a new recipe once for a side dish, a zucchini and cheese casserole, and it was so bad that there wasn't a single one of us that could choke it down. We still talk about how horrible that dish was.
