Orange Biscotti

Reviewed: May 11, 2007
This biscotti was just ok. I didn't find the flavor was all that great, and the texture wasn't the greatest either. But they weren't a complete flop - I've just made better ones before so this was a disappointment.

No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: May 7, 2007
These were sooo tasty. And ridiculously easy to make - literally done in 10 minutes. Everybody loved them. After reading the reviews I made them with only 3/4c butter and they came out perfectly.

Melt - In - Your - Mouth Shortbread

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
These cookies were quite good. I added a small amount of both vanilla and almond extract to mine in fear that they would be tasteless if I did not. I piped the cookies using a #32 large star tip into little rosettes to make smaller cookies, and sprinkled them with chopped chocolate covered almonds. I baked them for 8 minutes until they were just barely brown on the edges. Everybody seemed to love them and they vanished quite quickly. I almost never eat/make shortbread, but if I do it again I'll be using this recipe.

Nutty Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2006
I made these for my running club's X-Mas party and they were delicious. I added a bit more spices than was called for in the recipe and also added a little bit of garlic. Also I added a small piece of swiss cheese on top to make them pretty. They turned out really yummy, and were surprisingly easy to put together! A great appetizer, simple and delicious. The nuts add a nice touch. Will probably make again.

Empire Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2006
This is a great empire cookies recipe. They were easy to make (only took about an hour from start to finish - I thought it would take much longer!). The taste was absolutely delicious, the frosting almost tasted like a marzipan because of the yummy addition of the almond extract. And the cookies were soft and melt-in-your-mouth good. And the dough rolled out really easily. I had no glacee cherries so I topped mine with a slivered almond and they looked great. These only lasted a day in my house!

Swedish Nut Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2006
This cake was really easy to put together and turned out really great. I used canned pineapple slices that I crushed myself since I didn't have the crushed pineapple. I also used pecans and low fat cream cheese, and it still turned out really tasty. It was very moist and delicious. The topping was really sweet but that's how I like it!

Apricot Squares

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2006
I give these 5 stars because they were super easy to make and my mom had one and called it "unbelievable". They were that good! So ooey and gooey and delicious, and came out of the pan perfectly. The only thing I don't understand is the yield. 32 bars?! That's pretty funny. I cut mine into 16 regular sized squares. I told my mom I'd be making them again soon. :) Thanks for the recipe!

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
Wow, I really think these may be the best oatmeal cookies I've ever made. I've made so many different recipes for oatmeal cookies, but there's something special about this one, I just can't figure out what it is! They're perfectly moist and have a special, perfect taste. I used butter flavoured shortening instead of butter, used salted peanuts for the nuts, and omitted the salt. I also subbed 1/4 c wheat germ for the same amount of the flour. Absolutely delicious. This is my new oatmeal cookies recipe!

Granola Bars III

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2006
I really can't understand what everyone is raving about. These had no taste, an aweful texture, and were FAR too sweet. Nobody would touch them. Won't be making these again.

Aunt Cora's World's Greatest Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2006
Really good and REALLY easy to make. You really only need one measuring cup! 6 of them were eaten right off the pan, so they must've been good! The only reason I'm only giving them a 4 is because I find that there are just too many chocolate chips in them (never thought that was even possible!). But other than that, they're delicious.

Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2006
Wow! I was looking to make chocolate chip cookies but wanted something a little bit different - well did I ever find the greatest recipe! Nice and thick and chewy, and in one word, divine. I used only 3/4 c chocolate chips in mine, but then also added 1/2 c of salted peanuts, and thus omitted the salt. They turned out so delicious! They were an instant hit!

French Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2006
Very tasty and very easy to make! I made the whole thing in my KitchenAid mixer - no kneeding involved! The dough was so smooth and just plain perfect. The loaves baked up beautifully and with a wonderful flavour. They were so nice and crispy on the outside, and the inside perfectly moist and doughy, just the way I like it. I don't make bread very often, but I'll be making this one again!

Gramma's Date Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2006
These are EXCELLENT! I doubled the recipe and used a 9x13 pan, so they were a tad thick, but the were really really good. The filling is so incredibly tasty, and the crumb is just delicious! Everyone who had one loved them, and this will definitely be my date square recipe from now on! I cannot even express how divine they are!!!

Pancakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2006
I doubled the recipe for these and added some sliced bananas and cinnamon. They turned out really yummy. They were a great texture, not too thick or dense, but just nicely fluffy and moist. A great, simple pancake recipe which you can easily customize with any additions you want. Everyone who tried them really enjoyed them. Maybe next time I'll make apple, or blueberry, or whole wheat. Update: Today I made these with whole wheat flour, cinnamon, blueberries, and almond extract. They were delicious. What a great recipe that can be spiced up so many ways.

Insanely Easy Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2006
This was very tasty, although I am in agreement with a few other reviewers that this is not chili, it is vegetable soup. Regardless, it's still very good. I had to add about double the amount of spices (I like spices), and used peas instead of the peppers (didn't have any). Other than that I kept it the same and it was quite delectable. I may make it again.

Banana Oatmeal Crumb Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2006
A very tasty banana cake, not outrageously divine or anything, but rather moist and delicious. I really liked the oats, they gave it a nice bit of crunch and texture. Next time I'll make them as muffins perhaps. Very good.

Peanut Butter Fingers II

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2006
These were extremely quick and easy to make. I used crunchy PB and semisweet chocolate chips for the topping, and they turned out great. I found that the bottom oaty layer was a tad crunchy though, so if I make them again I think I'll melt the sugars with the butter so that they dissolve, because I didn't really like the undissolved crunchy sugar crystals. The taste was amazing though (the topping is to die for!!!), so maybe I'll try them again with the variation I said. Some of my family refuses to eat them due to the crunchiness...more for me :)
