About this Cook
I'm 21 and currently a university student, but I really prefer cooking to studying ;-)
My favorite things to cook
muffins, brownies, cakes curries, meatloaf, salads, oh I don't know, anything new really, I love trying out recipes -and adapting them (also, to available ingredients: not all American ingredients can be found here -but I still haven't been to that import store I heard of...)
My favorite family cooking traditions
-making marzipan with my brother and pizzas with my father, any time of year -we don't really have typical occasions or traditional foods we serve for holidays, it changes every year...
My cooking triumphs
I love it when I notice people can't stop eating what I made, and I love the compliments!
My cooking tragedies
-definitely the raspberry bavarois I made for Christmas dessert when I was 12, which caved in, to form a poor puddle of pink goo... -and my otherwise delicious fat-free pumpkin muffins which used to refuse to leave their paper cases (I found a solution to that: no paper case for them anymore! lol)

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot
Great recipe! I have come to leave out the baking powder because I find the details of the cut-out shapes get lost a little bit as the cookies puff in the oven. And they still have a great texture without the powder -although the dough really benefits from an overnight stay in the fridge. Last adjustment: no butter flavored extract to be found here in Belgium, so I sometimes sub in maple flavored extract (which is not available here either, but I bought that one in Canada a while ago) or just leave it out and double the vanilla. Thank you Laura!

Microwave Lemon Curd
This was great! As I like my lemon curd really smooth (with no crumbly/crunchy bits of zest that is), I used a vegetable peeler to make large ribons of zest, which I could then easily remove once the lemon curd had cooled a little. Thanks!

Buttermilk Pancakes II
I used half the mixture to make regular pancakes, which turned out PERFECT, and the other half to make WAFFLES, which my family liked even better, so this is going to be my recipe for buttermilk waffles!! :-) thanks!
