Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
This is so easy to make. I don't use a bread maker, so I heat the water to warm (about 45 second in the microwave), and then combine the sugar and yeast for 10 minutes before combining everything else together. I knead only until mixed completely (less than a minute), then I grease a new bowl with olive oil, place the dough in the new bowl, and let it rise an hour. I bake it in a normal loaf pan, and let it rise again about 20 minutes again if I have time, then I bake it at 350 for 25-30 minutes, and it's perfect. Crunchy on the outside, and moist and light on the inside. I use fresh chopped rosemary from my bush, and typically add dashes of oregano, sea salt, and other similar spices. You can't go wrong!

Fluffy Peanut Butter Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2010
I made these for cake balls frosting. It's absolutely amazing! I put in the lowest amount called of powdered sugar and added just a splash of milk. Absolutely perfect consistency. I will make again! I have no idea how anyone could manage to mess up this easy recipe!

Chicken Scampi II

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
Before I made this, I saw a few comments that stated this is restaurant quality. Well, I just made it and I absolutely agree!! It was amazing! I cut the butter in almost half and subbed water (about 1/2 cup) and it was still rich and incredibly flavorful. I also added the spaghetti to the sauce to soak it all up! Next time I will add more garlic, no other changes needed!

Three Cheese Manicotti

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
This is absolutely delicious. It is a little time consuming but not difficult to stuff the noodles. I first tried stuffing them with sandwich baggies with holes cut out, but found it much easier to use bare hands. I added 1 lb of hamburger, cooked with a few cloves of fresh garlic. I also only boiled the noodles for 1/2 the recommended time because I didn't want them to get soggy. Next time I will either reduce the cooking time, or add additional sauce because it was on the dry side. I also do not recommend spagetti sauce--will be too sweet. I used Marinara I was able to feed 5 children, & 6 adults with this dish + salad and still had most of the 2nd pan leftover. Most adults even had seconds and I got lots of compliments! Even better then 2nd day. I will make it again

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2009
I followed the ingredients and directions as written, expect I creamed the sugar and banana together in my mixer until liquid smooth. I also added chocolate chips. This recipe is perfect and so delicious. I'm going to take one and hide it from my family so I can have one with coffee tomorrow! It made 16 muffins for me. I filled them up half way, and they puffed up perfectly. Any more and I think they would have been too full

Caramel-Pecan Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2009
wow. Amazing. I am a huge baker and have never made brownies this delicious. I used half brown sugar/white sugar, and added vanilla. I used milk instead of heavy whipping cream because I didn't have any, and I didn't bother with the foil. I will make again!! EDIT--I"ve made this about 5 times more for holiday gifts, parties etc. I now use the foil-the caramel is quite sticky! This recipe is absolutely amazing as written. If you are thinking of trying this recipe, then do. People beg me for the recipe and ask all the time how I got the caramel in between! I can't believe I'm able to make something so delicious and so easily!

Mini Cheesecakes III

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
This recipe is unbelievably easy. I can't even tell you how many complicated cheesecakes I've made, and while all delicious, this one is by far the easiest, simplest, and tastes just as good, if not better! I am thrilled with this recipe. thank you for sharing it

Barbecued Short Ribs

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2009
This recipe is amazing, and although time consuming, very easy to make. My whole family, including my picky 2 and 4 year old gobbled it up. I subbed garlic powder and onion powder because I didn't have the real ingredients on hand and it was perfect. I recommend and will make this again

Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
These are amazing and very easy to make. I will be making these again. The only critique I have is the cake part of the cupcakes were somewhat crunchy around the edges. I will absolutely make again, with a different cake recipe. Amazing!

Special Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
I subbed 1/2 cup salted butter and cut the shortening to 1.5 c. I also used only 6 C of powdered sugar. I whipped the heavy cream first before adding any ingredients until still peaks formed (10 minutes), then I mixed the shortening/butter together in a different bowl before adding it all together. The frosting is stiff, firm, yet smooth and flexible. Absolutely amazing. I personally think it's way too sweet, but my hubby says it's the best frosting he's ever tasted

Iced Coffee

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2008
I am a coffee-holic and I thought this was delicious. Exactly like Starbucks, if not BETTER. I used half a cup of brewed coffee and reduced the condensed milk to 4 oz. Even then it was pretty sweet and I love sweet coffee. I also added a little extra water. I've never had condensed milk before, but it is very thick and sweet. Next time I may increase the coffee a little, but if you're using fresh brewed, 4 oz does give a decent coffee flavor. Try it! I'll seriously never need Starbucks again (unless I get a gift card haha!)

David's Yellow Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
I followed the directions exactly. I worked the yolk in my palms over a bowl to make sure the egg white was all out. This cake actually came whole instead of in chunks! (I'm famous for not being able to get cake out of the pans in 1 piece). It is light, airy, fluffy, and moist. The closest it reminds me of is angel cake, but a million times better. I topped this with whipped cream cheese frosting from this site and blueberries & raspberries. the perfect b-day cake for my 2 year old! Oh and for those wondering, the cake flour was about $2 and it was my first time using it.

Mississippi Mud Pie I

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
so delicious...I used heavy whipping cream and whipped it into the topping instead of Cool Whip. It was so light and airy. Yum! I also used Oreos, & used vanilla pudding instead of butterscotch, since I don't like butterscotch.

Chunky Cheesecake Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2007
so incredible & easy to make. The brownies by themselves are so rich and moist & I don't know how the cream cheese tastes like cheese cake with so little work!!! The third time I made it, I really swirled the cream cheese mixture and the chocolate mixture way too much. it turned out ok, but wasn't anything fantastic. So the key for me is to make sure I barely swirl them & keep a distinction.

Baked Ziti II

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2007
I rated this a 4 because it is a good basic recipe. I made it as is, except I boiled the pasta for half the time, figuring it would cook the rest of the way in the oven. I hate overcooked pasta! This worked out perfectly. It tastes good & is cheap and easy. it feeds a lot of people. It fed a party of 11 people & some people had seconds. Plus I had enough leftovers for 1 person the next day for lunch. I will make this again, but next time, I will add more spaghetti sauce. It seemed dry and I like it a little more saucy. I will also add more spices, although I'm not sure which ones. It was relatively bland, even for me & I am always made fun of because I like things bland! I will also probably add 1/2 lb of ground turkey too

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2007
Made this to go over a chocolate cake for my daughter's 3rd birthday. Absolutely amazing! I followed the directions as written and had no problems with it being runny at all. I will make this again and again, this is the best frosting I've ever made! I am still surprised at how thick the heavy whipping cream can get. When I thought it was done, I just kept mixing it and it got even more stiff. I think this frosting can stand up on its own, it's so thick! My mom actually said this is the best frosting she's ever had. She doesn't had out comments like that casually! EVERYONE and I mean everyone at the party wanted the recipe :)

Yum! Followed the recipe, except I doubled the vanilla. Cookies came out flat, chewy, soft & crispy on the edges. Absolutely perfect & just the recipe I've been looking for for years!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2007
I have made tons of cheesecakes before and none ever turned out as good as this one. I have made this 4 times, and am just about to make it again. It is very easy to make, creamy and sooo delicious. I usually make it late at night, and just put the cheesecake in the fridge after I wake up in the morning. I highly recommend this recipe, everyone raves about it! The only difference I ever make is sometimes I use an oreo crust and sprinkle oreos on top

Banana Bread VII

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
This is some good stuff and so easy to make! DH raved about it, especially about the light texture. If you like traditional or heavy BB, this probably won't appeal to you but it is very yummy! I made it last night and there is only a little left! I omitted the nuts and added a handful of chocolate chips. I made muffins, baked at 325 degrees for 26 minutes

This is very yummy soup. I added shredded chicken. It does seem like it's missing something and it was quite runny even with the added chicken
