Easy Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
JMOR777 - you are a GOD. Thanks for sharing this recipe. I made Christmas dinner this year and everyone was bowled over by this. I used the drippings from the turkey and followed the recipe exactly. SOOOO good! Thanks for making our Christmas dinner spectacular!

Naan

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
Oh my gosh this was good. We love to eat Indian food and I really didn't think that making these naan would come close to the resteraunt variety. I need to practice a little bit with the timing on the grill but these were goooood.

I don't especially like little smokies, but I had lots of family over today and these were devoured. So simple!

Strawberry Oatmeal Breakfast Smoothie

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2009
So good. My kids loved it too. I will make it again and add some wheat germ for a little more nutrition. Put the oats in the food processor first as others suggested.

Asparagus Chicken Crepes

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2010
Good, good, good. I used my own crepe recipe which was a little different, had no ham so skipped that but I LOVED this dish. I think I like the idea of shredded chicken in this and I love asparagus to I think I could have handled more than a cup. I will make this again for sure - and maybe add some artichokes. I think you could play with this idea depending what you have on hand.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Will never try another recipe! So good. I didn't do that lattice but it was fine with just a crust on top.

Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
So good. Used a water bath, baked the crust before putting the cheese cake in it, and quickly ran a knife around the cheesecake to separate it from the pan when it was done. No cracks, and it tasted great. Would have liked the non-pumpkin part to be thicker. Will make again.

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2010
I don't generally like clam chowder but my family love it. I actually liked this soup! The red wine vinegar made the soup! I did the bacon thing suggested by others, which I wouldn't skip. Due to picky eaters, I didn't add celery or carrots, but I did sprinkle in some celery seed. It was a little thicker than we liked so I think I'll cut back on the flour next time. Keeper.

Anything that gets my child to eat spinach gets 5 stars. She made this with me, helped pile in the spinach, took a deep breath and drank it. And loved it! YAY!

Hummus III

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
Love it. I use two cans of beans instead of two cups, add a little extra lemon, eyeball the paprika and add cumin. Also freeze it in muffin cups which is genious so thanks who ever I copied that from.

Sloppy Joes II

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2010
Not one of my favorites, but my family all loved them and my husband is in love. I added some worcestershire sauce - probably about a tablespoon. I've made this twice and the second time doubled the recipe and used 1c. tomato sauce and 1/2c. honey barbeque sauce. I froze the leftovers in muffin cups as suggested by others - one muffin cup is enough for a sandwich. So clever. Thanks!

Eclairs II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
These were fantastic. I followed the advice to prick a hole in the end of the warm eclair to let the steam out...not sure if it made a difference but why not? The filling was too runny for me, so I would like to try again with less milk. I actually don't really like the vanilla filling, but my husband loves it so I made it that way. I piped it in which was nice and easy. Next time I would like to make some and pipe plain whipped cream into it which is the way I grew up eating them. Fantastic easy recipe. Also, I put the 'dough' in a zip lock bag, cut a corner off about the width of the eclairs and then piped them out onto the cookie sheet - SO EASY. Thanks for the recipes!!

Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
These are so good! I doubled the recipe and would say I got about 30 - so definitely make more dough. Easy to roll - not sure why so many had a hard time with it. I piped on frosting that I found in the reviews. Yummy. Thanks for the recipe.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2010
I made these without a bread machine and they were still super easy. SO DELISH!! My only advice would be to watch them - I baked for 15 mins but the outside buns were a little crunchy - I like them soft and could have taken them out a few mins sooner. Still good though!!

Chicken Fried Chicken

Yum. I followed another reviewers advice, and dredged the chicken in flour before using the egg and coating. I baked it in the oven, and added a cup of butter toward the end.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
Comfort food all the way. I followed other reviewers suggestions and added cumin, parsley, poultry seasoning, seasoned salt and pepper. I used one can crm of chicken and one crm of mushroom, and used chicken broth instead of water. I used one package of biscuit dough, and I cooked on high for 6 hours, three of which had the dough in. I'm not sure what I'll add but I want it to have more gravy next time. I steamed some frozen mixed vege to go with - added a little butter and parmesan to the vege, and plates were clean!

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
I'm rating this 5 starts because I want people to try it, but I did not in fact stick to the recipe. I added a can of Rotel, used chicken broth, added corn, and used just a sprinkle of cayenne. This is a fantastic basic recipe though, and I think would be hard to ruin as you experiment.
