About this Cook
Grew up in a rural region of upstate New York full of many ethnic cooking styles. Learned cooking from my mother and father and a 4H program. I have warm and fond memories of festive times with great food throughout my childhood. I have continued my love of cooking and baking. I like to try new and intersting foods and cooking styles.
My favorite things to cook
Oh there are soo many. Right now I am in LOVE with my new breadmaker. Oh yumm! I have a friend who is going to teach me how to make fresh butter, I think I will enjoy that. I have been converting more and more to organic cooking which is opening up new styles and types of foods.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is typically the most set traditional meal we have. As a kid we had a pretty set Christmas one to with fresh sausages. Ummm! Always surrounded with family and good times.
My cooking triumphs
I have quite a few for me. Most of these are things I made from scratch and were time and labor consuming.
My cooking tragedies
When I tried to make a tarragon chicken dish for a boyfriend many years ago. I don't think I will ever forget that aweful vinegar taste! LOL! Also trying to make a crepe cake about a year ago. Crepes I have not mastered... YET!

Hummus III
I love love love this recipe. I make it on a weekly basis starting with garbanzo beans that I buy in the bulk section at my health food store and then soak overnight and then cook up the next day. It's much healthier more economical that way so I can buy the tahini brand I want. This recipe is very tweak friendly and I have enjoyed try different spices like cumin to give it a different flavor depending on what I'm craving. Next time I'm going to try a red bell pepper version. One thing I ALWAYS do is drizzle good olive oil in the food processor as it's blending and I also add plenty of my bean juice from cooking. You do need to add some form of liquid or it will be much to dry. Thanks for the recipe RC2STEP! It's GREAT!!!

Sloppy Joes II
Hey this is pretty yummy. I'm kinda pricky when it comes to my sloppy joes. My mom cans a sweet onion sauce that I grew up with in her famous sloppy joes, so this recipe has some pretty tough competion. With all that said this recipe all in all was a real good and really easy to make. Thanks for the great recipe.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine
Really good sweet dark bread, the coffee and chocolate undertones are wonderful. I made this with my bread maker, aka 'my new best friend'. I weigh out all my flours when making bread. This may be why some people report problems with bread recipies. You can convert recipies to metric at the servings tab on top of the recipe and then use a kitchen scale to help get the correct amounts of flour. Thanks for the great recipe!
