Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2006
I've made this two Thanksgivings in a row and I figured it was time to rate it. This is one of the most delicious apple pies I've ever tried, let alone made. The caramel mixture is unbelievable. The one thing I did different the second time is poured the caramel INSIDE of the pie, and not over the crust as the recipe says. When I did that, it caused it to cook too quickly and made the crust not as pretty as it should have been, given the time I gave to it for details. Other than that, I highly recommend.

Roasted New Potatoes

This is such an easy sidedish to throw together. End result makes it seemlike it takes more effort than it really did. Has such a wonderful flavor when cooked.

Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2006
This was so yummy! Had just the right amount of "kick" from the chiles in the tomato mixture, and the flavor was so great from the artichokes. I changed my mind from serving with pasta, to serving with herb roasted potatoes, and it was a HUGE hit with my boyfriend. Seemed very italian-ish. In fact, might even be good with a slice of mozerrela on top of each chicken breast at the end for melting. I'll be making this one again!

Cheesy Corned Beef Hash Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2006
This recipe didn't have much corned beef flavor, it really just tasted like tuna casserole. My boyfriend is a big Corned-Beef and hash fan, but wasn't crazy about this dish.

Spinach Lasagna III

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
Although this recipe is rather time consuming, the end result is DELICIOUS. I like there to be at least some meat in my lasagna, so I added ground beef into the onion/mushroom sautee. I also tripled the cheese!!! All three times I have made this it has turned out wonderful, and makes for even better leftovers. If you are wondering which lasagna recipe is right, and you have the time to prepare this one, try it out.

Strawberry Fruit Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
I had semi-high hopes for this, but to me it wasn't that good. I felt like I was ingesting too much sugar for not enough pay-off in the taste. :) It seems like a dish kids or sugar fanatics would like, but I wasn't a big fan.

Spicy Tortilla Roll-Ups

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
I looked for a recipe that would be good at a company picnic potluck and chose this one. They were OK when I tried them at home, but when they warmed up to room temperature they were NOT GOOD. Because they were only OK even cold, I give it three stars. The best appetizer is Sausage Parmesan Puffs (do a search)...you wont regret it!

Restaurant Style Egg Drop Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2006
I'm a pretty good cook, but asian cooking has always seemed intimidating because of the complex flavors, especially in their soups. I was so surprised at how wonderful this came out for a lunch party. All of my guests raved!

Bacon Water Chestnut Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
These were a hit at a BBQ with friends! The sauce could have been a bit spicier, and I too did not drizzle it on top, but rather let guests dip it in there. They were gone within minutes!

Crabmeat Canapes

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2006
I was excited to make this for guests, but the processed cheese made the whole dish seem kind of tacky, as well as it being WAY too salty. I'm only giving it 2 stars because 1 person did enjoy them.

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2006
This was super easy and fun to make! I added green chiles, black olives, corn, and shredded up some rotisserie chicken and layered it on as I saw fit, topping each layer with cheese. I also used low fat refried beans, low fat black beans, and low fat mexican cheese to make it that much more healthy! After it came out of the oven, I put some sliced avocado and tomatoes on, and it was a hit! My boyfriend couldn't get enough (in fact writing this review makes me want to whip one up right now!!!) Give it a try tonight!

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2005
I made this for my boyfriend, and although I was a little worried about how Sesame oil, BBQ, and marinara flavors would work, it turned out great! Much better than I had even hoped! This was very easy, and I'd definately make again. I used to the Boboli crust, and it seemed to be delicious. Buying it prebaked made it super simple. YUM!

Angel Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
This is my all-time favorite recipe! Its so easy to make, has such a delicious and rich flavor. I wouldn't change a thing about this recipe. It pretty much prepares and cooks itself! My boyfriend and I both LOVE IT! He even had me prepare it for his mom and his sister who were visiting for Thanksgiving.

Apple Crumb Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2005
This pie is amazing! Very easy to make, and the ingredients were all on sale too, making it very inexpensive. I planned to make it and take it took work, but I'll be making another for thanskgiving! The topping is delicious, and goes perfectly with the apples that carmelize so wonderfully underneath.
