Party Punch IX

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
YUM! I made this for my wedding reception and it was GONE! I used Cranberry gelatin and halved the sugar as others had suggested which made it just right! Noting the thaw problem, I made the mix on Thursday night, let it freeze on Friday, and took it out Saturday morning around 9am for a 2pm party. It had a perfect slushy chill, and broke up with just the pour of the ginger ale and a couple stirs with the ladel!

Even better when you use orange or mandarin vodka instead of regular!

Perfect Flat Iron Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
This was really good. I had never tried a Flat Iron steak before and I was so excited about how it turned out that I went and got another one and made up my own marinade! My husband has asked that Flat Iron steaks be added to the regular rotation.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2006
Really good "pull apart and dip" bread, not such a good bread for cutting into slices. My boyfriend devoured half the loaf before the rest of dinner was served. Try it with olive oil and balsamic vinagrette!

Peppermint Patty Surprise

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
Easy to make, not so easy to eat. Mine came out drippy, and got dried out really quickly. I followed the recipe exactly and was just not impressed.

Chocolate Mousse II

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
Great finish to a classy dinner! I made it in my college dorm kitchen using a blender and a hand beater... no electric mixer... Yes, it was messy, but it tasted professional and could be done on a budget with limited cooking tools. Wowed a boyfriend with my domestic skills!

Romantic Chicken with Artichokes and Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
It was very romantic! I used more mushrooms as my boyfriend and I both like them a lot. The chicken did turn out a little tough, but I think I just needed to watch it more closely.

Mexican Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2007
Yum! I modified the recipe, but used this as the base. I mixed refried beans, sour cream, and salsa together and sauteed green peppers and onions in with the meat and tomatoes. My layers went: tortilla, refried bean mix, meat mix, cheese, repeat. Super easy and so good! My husband ate three helpings.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
Really good, but hard to work with. I used 8oz of cream cheese instead of what the recipe called for as others had suggested. I let it chill overnight and then floured EVERYTHING before I started working with it. The dough got soft quickly so I'd cut a few cookies out and roll the rest of the dough back up, stick it in the freezer, and pull another ball out.

Seared Tuna with Wasabi-Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
OUTSTANDING!!! So easy and extremely good! As good as going out to eat and way more satisfiying. As suggested in the other reviews, I added more Wasabi which still didn't make it overly spicy, but gave it some zing.

Green Bean Bundles I

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2005
Boyfriend loved them... he hates vegetables so by soaking them in dressing and wrapping pork around it, he was thrilled. For someone who likes fresh food, it was serious overkill on the flavors.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2007
Yum! We used Granny Smith Apples from the farmer's market and the recipe was perfect. The filling didn't overpower the natural apple flavor. It was even better the next day!

Outstanding! Takes a long time to make, but it's well worth the effort. Make an evening out of it!

Sausage and Vodka Tomato Cream Sauce with Pasta

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2006
Yum! My boyfriend and I have made it twice in the last month! One of the only foods I've ever found that tastes as good or better leftover the next day.
