Thai-Style Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2005
These were very easy to make and I LOVE that it didn't require the mess of frying the wings. I made them for a party and what a hit! The combination of flavors is great and it looks so nice on a platter. There wasn't a single wing left, and several people asked me for the recipe. As one who isn't even much a fan of wings, I'll definitely be making this recipe again!

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2007
This is such an delicious and easy recipe! It took me exactly 35 minutes, from the moment I started the recipe until it went into the refrigerator. Make sure that you cook the eggs long enough that the sugar is no longer crystalized. Next time I make this I am going to try to just use 8 oz. of marscapone and substitute the rest with cream cheese/whipping cream. Marscapone is expensive and I don't think that subbing 1/4 cup of cream cheese would make too much of a flavor difference.

Pretzel Turtles

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
This is easy, but really not very good with basic ingredients. I used Rolos and I would not recommend them. The chocolate part tasted really cheap and the pretzels were a strange texture (which might be tolerated if the chocolate/caramel part was good). I may try it again with Dove Chocolate Caramels sometime, and will also toast the pecans first if I make this recipe again.

Mrs. Fields Cookie Recipe II

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2005
This is my absolute favorite cookie recipe, and while it's very time consuming to make it is worth it for special occasions. I use mini Hershey kisses (found in the same section as chocolate chips) instead of grated Hershey bar to save on the time. Don't try to flatten them, as somehow it makes them taste very blah. There must be some magic in the texture that is created with the fuller cookie.

Baked Ziti II

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
This recipe was just okay, and is not a traditional baked ziti. It tasted like "easy lasagna." In order to taste like a true ziti it needs less ricotta cheese (I agree with other posters that 15 oz might be a good amount) and also needs provolone.

Chocolate Peppermint Candies

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
These are delicious! I used a small stainless steel scoop to form the balls, and they were the perfect size. If you have trouble dipping them then they just need to be refrigerated longer. I made the peppermint portion in the morning, and then left them in the refrigerator all day and dipped them at night. I had no trouble with the peppermint falling apart. These will definitely be added to my candy recipe box.

Fasoliyyeh Bi Z-Zayt (Syrian Green Beans with Olive Oil)

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2008
This has quickly become my favorite green vegetable dish. It's so delicious and so easy. When I take dinner to a friend this is almost always a dish that I make. I wish I could provide you with some amazing tips, but I make it just as is and it's fantastic!

Southern Made Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2005
I was disappointed by this cheese ball. It made 2 large balls, and after serving it to a party of 30 I still had 1 1/2 balls left. While I thought it tasted okay, my boyfriend didn't like it at all. I won't make it again.

Guacamole

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2009
This has become my go-to guacamole recipe. It is perfect! I do make one change now and that is to replace the regular onions with green onions. Occasionally I will add a half of a jalapeno as well, whenever I want an extra kick.

Fettuccine Alfredo V

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2008
The 5 cloves of garlic make this recipe! Unlike some of the other reviewers I didn't find it overpowering at all. I rated this recipe a 4-star because the sauce was a bit runny. Next time I will heat all of the whipping cream at the same time, and then pull out a small amount to warm the egg. It also needs salt and pepper. I ended up adding about 3/4 tsp. of salt and 1/4 tsp. of pepper, and that enhanced the flavor.

Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: May 12, 2008
I followed the recipe to the tee. It was good, but it lacked in tomato flavor. Next time I will try sauteing the tomatoes in olive oil first, or maybe adding some sundried tomatoes.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2007
A better description for this cookie is "crispy edges, raw middle." I am usually a good baker, and I followed the recipe, but the cookies turned out gooey in the middle, even though I cooked them several extra minutes. They were also very flat and really, really greasy. Additionally, they were way too sweet and made my stomach hurt.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2005
I am a self-diagnosed chocoholic and I still thought there were too many chocolate chips in these cookies. Next time I make them I will cut the chocolate chips down to 1 1/2 cups and add a cup of walnuts to balance the sweetness. I followed others suggestions of refrigerating the dough for a while before baking and had no problems with cookie flatness. They actually held wonderful shape. I put the butter in my microwave on defrost for about 30 seconds, so I had a mixture of softened butter and melted butter rather than using all melted, but I don't think it mattered one way or the other since I refrigerated the dough. I did use salted butter and just lessened the salt by a pinch. It tasted delicious!
