I am an eclectic person, and it seems my food follows my eclectic tastes, yet I find comfort in those traditional dishes I remember from my grandparents' tables. I have two young sons that have brought our cooking expertise back to the basics again, and sometimes nothing beats a good PB & J.
My favorite things to cook
Homemade pizza making with my sons, baked sweet potatoes, fried mushrooms and onions (and fresh from the garden zucchini), a variety of yeast breads, a good cut of meat grilled to perfection.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Beyond our family tradition of making our own pizzas with the dough, rolling pin, and toppings spread out on the table to pick, choose and bake, I have a lot of memories of my family's traditions. I remember "helping" my grandma as she made cookies, pies, and other delicious desserts. I remember Christmas dinner at my other grandparent's house, and eating the turkey skin before the meal. All good memories that shaped my appreciation for food.
My cooking triumphs
Winning grand prize for my bread machine bread at the county fair--I need to find that recipe again.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to name...
