There is so much that makes me, Me. There's my family of which makes me a Cuban-American by blood, by heart and by nature. There's my love for food and cooking which makes for a lot of fun Holidays and memorable meals! There's my children, Ariela, Daniel, and Ilan who make me the best person I can be and most certainly the happiest person on earth. All that I am and all that I aspire to be are always supported and driven stronger by my wonderful husband, Rick.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook what I love to eat which are greatly influenced by my heritage in Cuban cuisine. But, I also love Mexican food, Chinese food, country comfort foods, Italian food, Greek and because I also enjoy baking, love breads and pastries!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love using my Cuban background to cook traditional foods such as arroz con pollo, chicken croquets, flan, etc but what I enjoy doing most is using key Cuban ingredients to make a spin on an old tradition or to liven up a not-so-lively dish. I have personally won over many of hearts with my Thanksgiving turkey. I believe it is a fools proof dish to a great Thanksgiving turkey!
My cooking triumphs
Winning the Allrecipes contest is a huge triumph in my cooking journeys but personal triumphs are at home...such as getting my kids to eat foods typically their age would not touch and then rave of how great it tastes. Others would be hosting a family holiday dinner with my new in-laws and everyone going nuts over my food and another big one for me is when my husband has potlucks at work and everyone raves about my dish!
My cooking tragedies
Entering a contest and not even hearing back from anyone! Regular tragedies are burning food or a recipe not being what I thought and that's for dinner! Okay, so a personal confession of my worst cooking tragedy was cooking for a large group of people for a special occasion and we ran out of food!! The worst of it is that all the kids got to the food first and very little was left for the adults and at the end of the event, many of kids plates were not even finished! Lesson learned!!
