About this Cook
Wow, what can I say...there is so much that makes me, Me. There's my family of which makes me a Cuban-American by blood, by heart and by nature. There's my love for food and cooking which makes for a lot of fun Holidays and memorable meals! There's my children, Ariela and Daniel, who make me the best person I can be and most certainly the happiest person on earth. All that I am and all that I aspire to be are always supported and driven stronger by my wonderful husband, Rick.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook what I love to eat which are greatly influenced by my heritage as well such as Cuban food, Mexican food, Chinese food, country comfort foods, Italian food, Greek and of course many if not all baked foods such as sweets and breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love using my Cuban background to cook traditional foods such as arroz con pollo, chicken croquets, flan, etc but what I enjoy doing most is using key Cuban ingredients to make a spin on an old tradition or to liven up a not-so-lively dish. I have personally won over many of hearts with my Thanksgiving turkey. I believe it is a fools proof dish to a great Thanksgiving turkey!
My cooking triumphs
Triumphs...hmmm...I've had many personal triumphs such as getting my kids to eat foods typically their age would not touch and then rave of how great it tastes. Others would be hosting a family holiday dinner with my new in-laws and everyone going nuts over my food. A biggy for me is when my husband has potlucks at work and everyone asks for the recipe of my dish!
My cooking tragedies
Always when it burns or dries out or gets cold too soon! I hate messing up meals and when it happens I literally get depressed till I can make it up on the next meal. UGH!

Meatballs and Sauce
This can be just as delicious as a quick last minute recipe! I took the advice of another cook and I sauteed onions in evoo then added (previousely frozen) baked meatballs as I warmend the sauce in a big pot for later...to the sauce I added white wine, s&p and stired. I poured the meatballs in the sauce, mixed it up and later added 1 tbls of cornstarch to thicken. Poured the meatballs over some pasta and got rave reviews! I had 3 servings myself...delish!!
