Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2011
This was delicious! I didn't have sesame oil so left it out, and used chives instead of green onions. Yum!

GA Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
I made this recipe exactly as written (well I did peel my peaches and they were VERY ripe) and it was absolutely delicious! I'm so glad I left it as is. The inside was moist and tender with a nice peach taste, the outside was crisp and sweet, such a nice compliment to the inside! I think it is one of the best pound cake's I've ever tired! Next time I ma or may not add a glaze, it really doesn't need it but it would pretty it up a bit.

Split Pea Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
YUM! This will be my main split Pea Soup recipe from now on, it was delicious! I used a large meaty ham hock, boiled it in 2quarts of water with 2 bay leaves for about an hour then added 1 diced onion and boiled about 30 more minutes. I soaked the peas in water while the hock boiled and rinsed until water was very clear. Added the peas, 3 diced carrots, 2 diced potatoes and 3 diced celery stalks along with another bay leaf, some thyme, cracked black pepper, fresh rosemary, 1 crushed chicken bullion cube and some parsley. Then simmered it all for about another hour. Stirred in about 1/4 c heavy cream just before serving. Let me tell you It was so good! Made a great New Year's Day dish with hot homemade rolls and brownies for dessert :)

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
These were really good cookies, they were a little different and didn't have the usual taste but we rally liked them. I got 18 cookies exactly using my Large Pampered Chef scooper (1/4 cup) I didn't have reg choc chips so I had to use 1 cup of Bittersweet Ghirardelli chips and 1 cup of chopped pecans. The brown sugar makes them sweet and chewy. I used just a tad less of both sugars and only had dark brown sugar. I also didn't press down the cookies, I The first batch I scooped right out (5 to a sheet) and stuck in oven for 16 minutes, they were perfect, the others I had put the dough in fridge in betweena nd pressed down a little but wish I hadn't, they came out flatter and not as nice looking.

Tender Potato Biscuits

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
I finally found a way to use up those leftover potatoes no one eats! This is a wonderful savory biscuit recipe! They turned out moist on the inside and nice and crunchy outside just the way I like 'em! The potatoes I used were red skin ones that I had "smashed" with butter, fresh rosemary, thyme & chives the night before so that really gave these biscuits great flavor! I didn't use all the water called for, maybe half of it. Also I used about 1/2 the sugar called for. I didn't really need the dough, just pressed it together then patted it out. I got a dozen biscuits out of it! These are only second to Kentucky biscuits on this site (only because you can eat those ones with jam, these ones just didn't taste as good cold)

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2007
Really delicious, quick and easy. This is a great meal when your cupboards are low! I added a few dashes of onion powder and served on egg noodles, even my picky 7 year old gobbled it down! Very versatile, next time I think we'll try it with a bit of green peppers in it! Thanks this is definitely a keeper :P

Chicken a la King I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
This was very good. I made a few mods. Used leftover lemon pepper chicken breasts chopped, a can of evap milk in place of milk, red pepper instead of green, fresh chopped mushrooms instead of canned and added 1/2 a chopped onion. I also used 3 chicken bullion cubes instead of the powder, it was a little too much, I should have used just 1 and it wouldn't have been as salty. This is a great basic recipe, next time I'll omit the peppers and use frozen peas. Might even be good with a bit o' sour cream :) Serve with Kentucky biscuits recipe from this site and you'll be in comfort food heaven :)

Kentucky Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
Okay, I LOVE biscuits and am always trying new recipes. I think these are the best ones I've ever tasted! They have a thin crispy shell on the top and bottom , are moist and golden inside and have the perfect texture. I didn't have buttermilk so substituted 1TB vinegar then filled measuring cup to the 3/4 line. I also accidentally added 1/2tsp salt instead of a dash. My search for the perfect biscuit is over! I can't wait to eat the 2 I stashed away with jam in the morning :)

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
We made this for supper tonight and it was delicious! I tripled the recipe and it made more than enough for 2 teen boys my 7yo daughter, hubby and I. I Followed recipe exactly but did sift the dry ingredients and added 1/2 tsp cinnamon. I also added 1 capfull of vanilla to the wet ingredients. Dropped some blueberries on top before flipping as well. They were great, nice and fluffy and not dry at all. Still have plenty left for breakfast in the morning too! edit: Mar 9, 2008: Crisco butter flavored shortening make s these extra yummy ;)

Noodles Marmaduke

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2006
This was quick and easy to whip up with ingredients on hand. My husband liked a=it and the kids ate it without complaining. I am sorry but I didn't like it, I think it may have been because I used cooking sherry because that's what I had, so I'm still giving 5 stars because no one else complained. I might try it again with the burgundy and see if it makes a difference for me. Thanks for a quick meal!

Grandma VanDoren's White Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2006
Oh My!! This is a very good recipe. I love to bake bread and hate it when it comes out dense, not so with this one! Nice and light dough, soft chewy crust! I ended up using 4 packets of Rapid Rise Yeast because that's all I had. All purpose flour worked fine as well. I let it rise for an hour in between each step and the cinnamon rolls rose an extra 35 minutes while the bread baked. Made 2 nice loaves and a big batch of 18 cinnamon rolls with cream cheese icing. YUM! We ate a whole loaf with Peasant soup for dinner and had a cinnamon roll for dessert! I am so full! Nice tangy taste and wonderful texture, don't miss out TRY IT!!!

Slow Cooker Split Pea Sausage Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2006
Amazing, even my 9 & 5 year old kids loved this. Husband went back for seconds too!! I used 1lb of sweet Italian sausage squeezed from the casing and fried instead of the smoked sausage. I also used 8 cups of water instead of 10 because I only have a 4qut crock pot. I ended up cooking it on High for about 5 hours and then low another 2 because I forgot about it :) it turned out great anyways and was nice and thick and creamy. Went great with a box of Jiffy cornbread, an effortless meal to walk in the door to! A definite keeper, THANKS!!
