Shrimp Scampi ala Norelllaura

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
A very good and different scampi recipe! I did not use the flour on the shrimp, but did add a little cornstarch at the end to thicken, otherwise made it as directed and it was great!

Strawberry Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2010
Loved this! Made one loaf since there were not a lot of folks here to eat it and was not sure how it would hold up- but I think I need to make another loaf! I did double the berries, and ended up baking it about 5 min longer ( am guessing due to the extra moisure?) The next morning it was just as moist as when I made it- not dry at all. Definitely a keeper!

Chicken Pot Pie Soup with Toasted Almonds

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Made this almost as written- no major changes and it was deliscious. I left out the mushrooms ( the guys wont eat em..) and parboiled some fresh carrots since I did not have frozen ones. I did roll a pie crust out flat and bake it till golden, and added pieces of that to the bowl since the crust is always the best part to me! WIll definitely make this again!

My 'usual' carbonara recipe has italian sausage, and I wanted a lighter recipe.. and this was it! Husband and son devoured it. Need to double it next time!

Famous No Coffee Pumpkin Latte

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
My new favorite cold weather drink! Made it as instructed, and wont mess with it. Great just the way it is. Much tastier than hot chocolate, and I would like to think a bit healthier too. Great with whipped cream on top, and a sprinkle of cinammon.

Peasant Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
This is really great bread! I usually bake once or twice a week, but was in a hurry and did not want to take the time to knead bread today- this was perfect. I made it as 2 rustic loaves, and loved it. It is a nice, flavorful bread, with a nice chewy crust. I will absolutely make this one many times!

My first try at zucchini bread, and it was excellent. I did double the zucchini per another reviewer and it is still very moist 2 days later. Definitely will make this again!

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
I have made this several times Let it set overnight and the nuts were still crunchy ( I was concerned they would get sort) Added the bacon the morning of the party just in case. Use craisins which were wonderful in it. JUst made it for a work potluck and had many requests to make it again for the next pot luck. People were actaully disappointed that there were not leftovers the next day to munch on- and thats a first!

White Bread I

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
My new favorite bread recipe! I made it the old fashioned way, took about 40 minutes in my oven.. but I love the crust. I love a soft crust, and this is the first bread recipe I have found that really has a crust the way I like it. Will make this one every week!

Pierogi I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
I have been looking for just the right pierogi dough for years... and this is pretty close to my Polish grandmas recipe! ( and the best I have found on this site) It was difficult to get mixed initially, but I finally just added water, divided it in 1/3's, and kneaded flour back in till it was smooth and easy to work with. A few suggestions for those of us who are pierogi-challenged: I squeeze or roll the fillings into lots of aprox 1 Tbsp balls, which moves things along quickly once you get rolling- just grab a ball of filling and wrap the dough around it. ( neater too ) Secondly- rather than cut out circles, I set a ball of filling about an inch from an edge, fold the dough over it, then use the glass to cut a half-moon, and pinch the edges together. I boil them and let them drain/dry on a cooling rack, then transfer them to wax paper. Less problem with the underside getting soggy. I use my own fillings- but the recipe for the dough is great! Not a leak in the batchh!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2014
I have made this recipe a dozen time and ONCE the filling turned thick and gloppy... the rest of the time it was great. Not sure what the variable was but I can see if I had made it ONCE and that one time the filling was dry and gloppy I would not give it 5 stars either. This last time I put in a few 'grinds' of sea salt in the caramel filling and a sprinkle on top and it was a great addition! I also usually put in 1/2 tsp of vanilla, but it is just as good without.

Runzas II (Bierocks)

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2010
Loved this! The cafeteria at the hospital I used to work at many years ago made these and I used to eat them every time they were on the menu. This is almost exactly like the ones they served. I served them with beef gravy, and my husband asked for seconds- almost unheard of for a new recipe for him. Will see how the left overs heat up tomorrow... if there are any once my son gets home!

WHile I dont usually care for recipes made with soup, this one was great. Very tender chicken, great flavor. I suspect it would be great in a crock pot as well...

Spicy Sweet Potato and Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
This was awesome! I put less curry paste in (personal preference) and did run it thru the blender to make it more of a cream soup... otherwise made it as written and loved it. Absolutely will make it again and again..

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
This was excellent! I did flour the chicken before dipping it in egg and it makes the crumbs adhere better. And I melted the butter and poured it over the chicken rather than putting pieces of butter around the chicken so it was more evenly covered. But other wise make it just as the recipe instructs and it is wonderful!
