Chicken Pot Pie Soup with Toasted Almonds

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2010
Made this almost as written- no major changes and it was deliscious. I left out the mushrooms ( the guys wont eat em..) and parboiled some fresh carrots since I did not have frozen ones. I did roll a pie crust out flat and bake it till golden, and added pieces of that to the bowl since the crust is always the best part to me! WIll definitely make this again!

The Best Thai Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
I really liked this. Added extra coconut milk to thin it a bit, other than that, made as directed. I served it with fettucini pasta, and it was great. Added some crushed peanuts to the top for a little crunch, and it was great.

Shrimp Scampi ala Norelllaura

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
A very good and different scampi recipe! I did not use the flour on the shrimp, but did add a little cornstarch at the end to thicken, otherwise made it as directed and it was great!

Peachy Rice Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2009
This was really good... I did add some cinnimon and brown sugar to the rice, which made it even better. I dont know if it was just ME - but I found it was a bit watery- I tossed it in a preheated 350° oven for about 10 min and it firmed it up just right!

Fiesta Chicken and Black Bean Enchiladas-dup

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
Used a whole can of enchilada sauce, as suggested by other reviewers, otherwise made a written. Very good. Will add to my rotation. Very easy to toss together, and healthy. ETA: I was in a hurry the other day and did not have time to cook the chicken for this .. made it vegetarian and my husband and son never noticed! Makes a good meatless meal as well!

Georgia Peach Homemade Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
I loved this! my ice cream maker is small, and I ended up not adding any milk at the end ( just the evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milks) I had very ripe peaches so I just mushed them up well and left some chunks. I think the flavor was great- the additional milk seems like it would dilute it too much for me! Am buying more peaches tomorrow to make more!

Avocado and Cilantro Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2009
It was good... but I think next time I will make it without the tequila.. had kind of an odd after taste with it. Probably would be a good idea to taste it before you add tequila... and if it is good.. leave it alone! ;-)

Praline French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
I made it just as instructed and it turned out quite dry and stuck to the bottom of the pan. I ended up sprinking the pecans on it and then poured on the sauce ( with a Tablespoon of butter and a splash of Hazelnut syrup added) and baked it an additional 5 - 7 minutes till bubbly... turned out great! If I make it again I would definitely do it that way... seemed to soak up the sauce nicely and it was the perfect level of gooey-ness!

Gingerbread Bears

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
Loved this! I am not a cut-out-cookie kind of person so I was reluctant to try one, but my teenaged daughters boyfriend requested gingerbread cookies so we decided to try. This one is great! Rolled out really easily, easy to handle and the flavor was great. Interestingly the ingredients call for butter and corn syrup and the recipe says molasses and margarine... we went for the latter, skipped the cloves (didnt have any) and doubled up on the cinnamon and ginger- and it was great! Only chilled it for about 30 min and between batches and it rolled out fine. Will absolutely make these again.

Beer-Boiled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2011
This has to be my new favorite recipe. And I am not a beer person! Only changes I made were to toss in 2 bay leaves, a little garlic, and a wedge of lemon...and I was debating whether it would be rude to lick my plate! Used a pound of shrimp for 2 of us- and could have used more... cant wait to try this one again!

Elk Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2011
I chose this recipe ( versus using my usual chili recipe) in case I had to disguise the fact it had elk in it for my husband. It was great. My son rated it an A- which is really good by his standards. I would have made it a little less spicy for my taste, but the men in my family liked it the way it is. I think it would be a great chili with ground beef as well- will try it when the elk we were given runs out! Thanks for a great recipe.

Across the Border Tequila Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 27, 2009
This is a great summer recipe- very light. I tossed cilantro in the sauce at the end ( I love cilantro! ) and let it blend in, and served it over rice. I also double the sauce to have lots for the rice to soak up.

Salmon Tango

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
I really liked the flavor of this, but it needs to marinate longer, or use thin fillets so the flavor penetrates. Very good flavor tho!

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2011
Loved this. I think next time I may sprinkle the cajun seasoning on as it is cooking as it was a bit strong for my taste. I used less green pepper since my daughter would just pick it out anyhow. After cooking the chicken I cut it in bite size pieces and mixed it all together to spread it out a bit more,But thought it was wonderful and will definitely make it again.

Peasant Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
This is really great bread! I usually bake once or twice a week, but was in a hurry and did not want to take the time to knead bread today- this was perfect. I made it as 2 rustic loaves, and loved it. It is a nice, flavorful bread, with a nice chewy crust. I will absolutely make this one many times!

Sour Cream Apple Pie Deluxe

This was very good. I did add about an extra cup of apples ( 2 cups just did not look like enough..) and I think I could have even added more. Added almonds to the topping as other posters suggested- very good! WIll make it again

Alyson's Broccoli Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2009
I have made this several times Let it set overnight and the nuts were still crunchy ( I was concerned they would get sort) Added the bacon the morning of the party just in case. Use craisins which were wonderful in it. JUst made it for a work potluck and had many requests to make it again for the next pot luck. People were actaully disappointed that there were not leftovers the next day to munch on- and thats a first!

Reuben Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2009
One of my favorite recipes! I love reuben sanwhiches but by the time I am done making them for the rest of the family, they are done eating and I am just getting mine made. This is a great compromise. The only addition I make is to add about 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds to spread the 'rye bread' flavor thru the soup.

Boston Brown Bread III

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
This was wonderful! I made it in 3 mini loaves ( baking about 35 minutes at 350°)and added 1 cup of raisins, it came out perfect. We ate up all 3 loaves while it was still warm, and I am baking 3 more this morning for breakfast, and so my daughter can have a loaf to take back to college with her. Just a wonderful cold-morning treat!
