Scalloped Potatoes 'n' Franks

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
Yum, yum and yum again! When I started melting the butter for this recipe I noticed my potatoes had sprouted. So on a whim I used a couple of bags of frozed seasoned tater tots instead. (I doubled the recipe). It turned out really good. My kids loved it and even picky husband said it was pretty good. However, I don't think you need to add the salt if you use the seasoned tater tots. My family was chugging milk through out dinner.

Not as great as I was thinking they would be. Kind of boring and plain.

These are very rich so I cut them into small squares. The topping almost seems like marshmallow and coconut. They were yummy!

Bacon Roll Ups II

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2006
I made these just as the recipe calls for. I thought they were way too bland and just not very tasty. I would use a seasoned cream cheese and bread if I were to try these again.

Country Apple Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
I love this recipe! This is an apple dumpling that is basically simmered in the sauce. SO yes, the bottom is going to be wet. But who cares? The dough is thoroughly cooked regardless. The bottom is soft and moist while the top is crisp and carmalized. I love to drizzle the extra sauce over the top of the dumpling. I serve with vanilla bean ice cream and....YUM! I already bought more ingredients so I can make it again!

Herb Roasted Pork

Wonderful! This is the best pork loin roast I have ever made. Family including small kids had seconds and thirds. The sauce is very sweet which for me is a good thing. We really enjoyed this recipe!

Cinnamon Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2006
I thought this was pretty good. The texture is a little carmelized on top and underneath it's like a pecan pie texture without the nuts. It is very nice with a good flavor. A snap to put together as well.

Better Than Best Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
My family really enjoyed this recipe! Especially the kids. I used chicken legs and they took much longer to cook. They came out beautifully crispy brown and flavorful. I agree with other posters who have commented that this is a good recipe to experiment with your spices and add them to your liking.

Pumpkin Dump Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
About this cake...The bottom layer has the exact texture of pumpkin pie. The top layer turns into a sort of crust. But this is important...You need to drizzle butter over almost every speck of cake powder or you will end up with areas of unbaked cake mix. I suggest you melt 1 and a half cups of butter instead of the called for 1 cup. Last night when I made this I almost came back with a negative review because I didn't like the way it tasted warm. Today, after it had sat in the refridgerator all night I have a totally different opinion. It is much better cold!

Carla's Baked Bananas

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
I didn't care for this at all. I love bananas foster and was hoping this would be similar. My bananas turned out a little bitter after cooking and the syrup topping was just a thin clear sugar syrup. I think it would taste much better with brown sugar so you could get that carmel taste. I even put this over ice cream and topped it with whipped cream. I think I would have preferred just the ice cream and whip cream without the bananas. Sorry.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
Shoot! I thought I had already found the utlimate meatloaf recipe on this site under, "Sweet and Sour Meatloaf". Well, I think this one is the winner! It's very easy to make. I acutally mix up the meat mixture in my Kitchen Aid. This way my hands stay nice and clean. I would suggest that you leave it standing after you take it out of the oven for five to ten minutes as this allows the sauce to thicken up. This is really great meatloaf! Kids had thirds. If you like the sweet tomato sauce on meatloaf, you will love this recipe!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2006
Are you guys serious? I followed this recipe to a T and they were nothing great. I have been searching for a really good ccc recipe for the past few years. I have made dozens of different batches and this one wouldn't even make my top ten. I was really disappointed. I thought with all of the good reviews they had to be something spectacular. The response I got from friends and family was...eh. The dough was just too bland tasting and I think the pudding gave it a bit of a dry floury taste. Now...for presentation I would give this cookie five stars. They turned out beautifully. Nice and round, puffed just enough. The texture was just right. So I don't know. I think I will be submitting my number one recipe and see what kind of reviews it gets because this cookie was nothing to go as crazy about as some of the reviewers have said. I'm almost tempted to try it again just to make sure I'm not off my rocker but I swear I followed the recipe exactly!
