I was looking for a simple chocolate frosting recipe. It can't get much easier and tasty as this one was! I followed the directions exactly and it came out perfect!

Best-Ever Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
I seem to always make changes to recipes. This one was no exception. I added milk instead of water and added one egg for fear of the cake being to crumbly. This version turned out great. Everyone liked it so much I think I'll stick to the changes.

Ultimate Irresistible Granola

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2007
This was my first time making granola and it turned out great! I had to make a lot of changes to adjust to what I had on hand. I added 6 cups of oats to make up for other ingredients I did not have. I used my organic extra virgin coconut oil and did not have a full cup so I added a 1/2 cup of organic peanut butter w/o sugar to the oil, 1 cup honey(for less sugar) What a nice peanut buttery taste! I added a 1 tsp. of sea salt to work better with the peanut butter flavor. I left out the shredded coconut, because my kids do not like it, I did not have sesame seeds so I added 1 cup oup of fresh ground flax seed. I left out the wheat germ because it is high in phytic acid not a good nutritonal food as many believe it is. Although I made a lot of changes, I love a recipe that can be tweeked for personal tastes and still turns out the way it should. Thank you for a great recipe!

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2007
I gave this recipe a 4 because it is very good but not OMG good. We will definitly make it again. I read a lot of reviews and did the following, I did not add extra water and used my own chicken stock for all the liqiud. I added 2 onions, 5 garlic, 2 tsp. cumin, extra chili powder and sour cream as a topper. I also cooked for 5hrs. covered and on low to blend flavors. I would highly recommend cooking longer. For those who are not hominy fans, it really took on the flavor of the soup and was good. Great recipe to add your own flare and personal touch. My husband said he would have liked it hotter, so I think I will add some crushed red pepper to spice it up.

Oven Barbecued Beef Brisket I

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
I eyed the seasonings, so I added a bit more than the reciepe called for. It turned out great. We never made a brisket before, but now we will be making it a lot. I did not add the water, I mixed the sauce with the brisket drippings and added that to the meat. I was flavorfull and tender. YUM!

Frank's Spicy Alabama Onion Beer Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2007
This is a great chili reciepe! It has a lot of zip. We did not think it was too soupy like other reviewers. We like a thick chili, but this consistancy along with the flavor was perfect. We made a batch for the kids ommiting the hot stuff and they LOVED it. This will be our new chili reciepe! Anyone who likes chili can adjust the peppers and spice to make a great pot of chili. Hot or not! Thanks.

Chicken Piccata

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2007
Very good! The only thing I did different was dip the chicken in a slightly beaten egg before I put it in flour mixture. The whole family enjoyed this reciepe. Thanks!

Irish Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2006
I put in 2 1/2lbs of lamb and kept the veggies at the same level. I actually trimmed some fat off the very meaty bacon I had, and trimmed the fat off the lamb to cut down on the greasiness, which mine was not. I put in regular beer in instead of guiness, because I did not have any, I cooked it in the crock pot, cut the water by more than half, and it came out a bit bland. I added more salt, beef bullion and out of deperation to get more flavor I added some cooking sherry and 3 stalks of celery. I thickend it up more at the end. Amazingly enough it turned out great in spite of my blunders. Next time I would add 3 1/2lbs. of meat to make it more meaty. Other than that, I have to remember how I fixed it up to get the same result, because my husband loved it.

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
The only thing I would change is that I would use bigger shrimp next time. My batter was a bit overpowering, but tasty. I also fried them in extra virgin coconut oil, although expensive it contributed to a great coconut flavor.

Cabbage Rolls III

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
I have never made my own cabbage rolls before and these tasted just like I imagined them to taste. I used only ground beef because I did not have the other. It still turned out great. I had some trouble with the cabbage leaves and would suggest to freeze the head of cabbage first as other people suggested.

Roast Leg of Lamb

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
I picked this recipe because of the simple preparation. This was the first time I made lamb, and it turned out great. I did add the garlic to both sides of the roast and really liked that. Mine came out more well done than I would have liked, but the flavor was great. We will be having this one again!!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 19, 2006
My pizza turned out o.k. I need to work a bit on the toppings. The crust was the best part of the pizza. It cooked nice all of the way through, not doughy in the middle. Thanks Jay!!

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2006
This was a great rub. The only thing I added was some rosemary. I also cooked my roast at a lower temperature and slow cooked it all day for a great tender roast.

Not Red Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2006
This was a good reciepe. I would cut down on the butter next time it was kind of greasy and a bit salty maybe 1 boullion cube would cut it. My husband enjoyed it and definitly wants it again. I also added 8oz. of mushrooms.

Broccoli and Cheddar Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2006
Thanks for a great tasting super easy recipe. It tastes pretty much exactly like panera bread broccoli and cheddar. I pretty much followed the recipe, I did add some shredded carrot and thought the consistency was perfect. Some people thinned it out, but if you like the thickness of panera bread broc-n-cheddar than I would not thin it.
