Sweet Smoked Pork Ribs

Four stars for potential. 3 stars for flavor as is. Found it intolerably spicy, & I like spice. Kids couldn't even eat one bite due to the heat! Will nix the red pepper flakes completely next time & will cut cumin in half. (was a bit too strong even though it did add a unique dimension to the overall flavor). Did make this as recipe states- used Sweet Baby Rays BBQ. Oh, think also will use the undiluted apple juice from concentrate too, it could have used a bit of sweetness... Unless I couldn't taste that due to the too powerful heat & cumin? Will update review after we try it again.

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Loved the provolone topping. The potatoes were uncooked though, so will take another reviewers suggestion of boiling the sliced potatoes briefly first. Very high fat meal, will lower the butter content next time too. Won't make often just because of the calories/fat.

Garlicky Baked Butternut Squash

With all the rave reviews, I threw caution to the wind & made this for a part of the turkey day dinner... Ugh, 2 people liked it enough to finish what was on their plate, but that was it. It wasn't hardly touched in a room full of root vegetable lovers. Made the recipe as states. It wasn't a bad flavor, it just wasn't appealing. Most of us love garlic too, so I can't really explain why it was such a miss.

Sloppy Joes II

I really liked them, my oldest ate them up easily. My hubby thought, "so so" (but he's a tough critic!), and my middle child said, "I don't really like this". That all said, I liked the recipe & will make again,me specially using the freezer idea for individual portions.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

Made as is, people said they really liked it, but it was one of those that no one asked for the recipe. So while it was good, it wasn't something I'll probably make again for a party. I personally found it to taste too salty, & I did not add in any salt.

Chocolate Crinkles II

My kids & loved them, my husband took one bite & was done. They weremade as recipe calls for & I put them in the freezer for 45 mins, then used a melon baller to drop them on parchment paper. Yum!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

I made 4 batches of this & turned it into a pirate ship covered with fondant for my daughters 5th birthday party... I had to make it 3 days ahead of time... It was AMAZING! It was all eaten up! The only thing I changed was that I took the suggestion of using mini chocolate chips instead of regular sized. This is my go to chocolate cake now!!

Nonalco Punch

Oh yum! This is my go to punch now. I made it for an Easter Egg Hunt I hosted & the kids wouldn't even go for the juice boxes. I also made an "adult" punch by adding Disaronno. I added it at a 1:3 ratio (1 part Disaronno to 3 parts punch). You can easily make it stronger or weaker too without much affect on the taste. I tried it also with Prosecco... but that was kind of gross so I don't recommend that! For my daughter's birthday party this weekend I am making a double batch. I'm freezing 2 quart sized zip lock bags worth and then will place them in the punch to help keep it cold too. Love this recipe! Oh... and as some other users have recommended, I don't add any sugar. I simply use light cranberry juice. I tried it with cranberry/pomegranate juice and that was great as well. Very flexible recipe that way.

Made with meredith's suggestions... was fantastic, my husband complimented it, which he usually just eats if he likes, not often does the actual comment come out. Kids all ate it too... Will definitely use again.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

I really like these. I was about the only one though in my family. My husband couldn't eat more than one bite, he felt the flavor was too overpowering. I did like them though, and since I'm much more open to a variety of foods than my husband is, they still got a 4 star. Oh, and yes, I made the recipe as states.

Smokey's Cat Food (Cold Salmon Spread)

Had no salmon cream cheese on hand, but did have regular cream cheese (whipped) and liquid smoke. I think it would have been delectable had I used less liquid smoke. It was ok otherwise. I gave it a 4 stars based on what I think it would have tasted like with the salmon cream cheese... will update next party opportunity.

Holiday Green Salad

I didn't get to eat this, but my husband had to work on Thanksgiving and so I made it for him to take to work. He liked it and some of the guys from work asked for the recipe, which means it was a hit! The only thing I did different was left the nuts out due to an allergy of one of the guys. Will make again, I want to try it at least too!

Baby Back Ribs

For the cooking technique, it was a good recipe. I used the tips from KERI5678 and it turned out very tender (almost fall of the bone) and still had a bit of that bbq crisp from broiling it. Good for easy in the house cooking on cold winter days (and it didn't smoke out the place either!)
