About this Cook
I am a Registered Dietitian and a newly-wed who is attempting to cook for her husband! A Registered Dietitian (or R.D.) is a food expert who has completed AT LEAST a Bachelor's Degree, an intensive internship experience lasting 6 months or more, and has passed a national exam. WE LOVE FOOD and strive to lead everyone to healthy diet choices that fit into EVERYONE's lifestyle. Cut your risk for disease! Go to for a basic plan.
My favorite things to cook
Healthy stuff of course! And healthy stuff DOES NOT have to be gross or bland. I love composing salads.... making vegetables interesting and experimenting! And my hero is Alton Brown, which says a lot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We HAVE to have angel biscuits (simple yeast rolls) at every Thanksgiving. Also we have a 'Can O' cranberry sauce' but that does not involve any cooking... just leaving it in the shape of the can.
My cooking triumphs
Every time it doesn't "taste like >dirt<" is a triumph to me.
My cooking tragedies
A pumpkin pie I tried to make. I had just learned how in one of my classes, but something went wrong and this thing was soggy and gross.

Corn Noodle Casserole
This was pretty tasty. I made it pretty much exactly as described here and I put some crushed butter crackers on top. Worth trying and experimenting with to see what your family likes best.

Pumpkin Bread VI
This bread is easy because it has a simple list of ingredients. I used pumpkin pie spice in place of the allspice and nutmeg. I'll probably use more next time. I have to admit I found the orange flavor a touch off-putting but it was something new to try. However, next time I think I'll substitute applesauce instead. It really bothers me that no oven temp was listed, I set mine at about 340 and I had to bake it for about 65 minutes, came out great though!

Snickerdoodles V
I used a 3/4 c whole wheat flour, and 1/2 splenda in this recipe in place of some of the ap flour/sugar. They tasted pretty good and my Mom liked them, which is why I made them. However 1 1/2 days later and they are pretty darn stale. Kinda did not have *too* much flavor. Oh well.....
