About this Cook
hi! i love to cook and experiment on my husband's taste buds. i've been using for a long time now, though i never made a profile til recently. really looking forward to trying out lots of recipes and documenting my successes and failures :)
My favorite things to cook
simple things with a lot of flavor
My favorite family cooking traditions
my husband likes to "help" when i cook. he'll open the packages, mix things, be the can opener, and announce the time to "break it down!". we probably would look crazy from the outside looking in, 2 fools dancing to no music in our tiny kitchen
My cooking triumphs
i'm a proud abuser of the slow cooker. i found out i can probably make everything with it.
My cooking tragedies
the first meal i tried to make in my crock pot was spaghetti. for 6 hours. i don't know why i thought that would work.

Apple Hand Pies
i just tried this recipe tonight and these are so delicious! even though mine turned out ugly, they are still super yummy :) i used a package of Jiffy pie crust instead of prepared pie dough, because that's what i had, and cut my apples too big for their pockets i think. i made 8 instead of 4 since i don't have a big enough work space to roll out dough on.

Easy Chicken Tetrazzini
this tasted good, there was nothing wrong with the taste. it was just kind of sloppy, like someone forgot to buy tomato for a spaghetti and just dumped chicken flavor on it and added actual chicken as an afterthought. and it's very soupy but not easy enough to eat with a spoon.

Easy Broccoli Quiche
I made this tonight. Turned out delicious! I didn't have a 9" round pan so I used a brownie pan, which did screw up my pie crust usage. I "made" my own pie crust using a box of Jiffy pie crust mix, which will make enough dough for 2 crusts. After some surgery I ended up with bits and pieces left so I threw them in slices on top. Definitely use fresh broccoli and don't worry about chopping or mincing (onion, garlic) perfectly. Everything is hidden in the quiche anyway. Mine came out fluffy and flavorful, despite there not being that many spices in recipe (only salt and pepper). This was so easy and yummy I will have to make it again
