Lebanese-Style Red Lentil Soup

This was a delicious and refreshing recipe. I followed Ahmad Ghosheh's advice and forwent the cayenne pepper in favor of black pepper. I was looking for a lentil soup recipe that would mimic my MIL's (she's Egyptian and I LOVE her cooking), and while this didn't taste the same, it was a great alternative soup. Definitely had that delicious middle eastern tangy/savory flavor. Loved it!

Marinara Sauce

Best Marinara Sauce I've ever had period, and so incredibly easy to make! I had to make some modifications which might have enhanced or changed the flavor. I ran out of red wine so I had to use White Merlot (more of a rose wine). In addition, I am garlic intolerant so I used half of a finely chopped shallot instead. Served it over a turkey meatball recipe I got from Joy of Cooking and it was just perfect! I'm never buying bottled sauce again!

Summer Lasagna

This is my absolutely FAVORITE recipe that I saved to my recipe box. I try to watch what I eat, and this recipe provides a strong, rich taste of a "unhealthy dish" without all of the added carbs and fat. Two things I do when I make this recipe - replace the ground beef with ground turkey meat, use tons of fresh basil instead of dried ground basil. The basil leaves end up leaving an incredible flavor, and are very tasty.

Beef Stew VI

This is my absolute favorite beef stew recipe! I add red wine to the recipe and cook everything in a pressure cooker.

Grandma's Tomato Soup

This was a great recipe, but I found I had to simplify it further for my tastes. I left off the salt (I was already using V8 low sodium for the tomato juice), left off the butter, and left off the sugar. The tomato base seemed sweet enough to not need anything added. Great and simple recipe, and great for the fall!
