Four Cheese Macaroni Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
I made this and with a few changes it was awesome. I omitted tomatoes and added 1 tin of tomato paste. I just used basil, salt, pepper and nutmeg for seasonings. I added 1.5 cups mozerella 1.5 of cheddar and 1/2 of parmesian. Kids gobbled it up. Thanks

Zucchini Apple Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2005
A very nice bread but it was very chunky. I grated the apple and zucchini the second batch and it was much better. Also I found it dry when I mixed in the zucchini and apple so I added a 5th egg which did the trick. Maybe my eggs were just on the small side but no matter. I'm sure it will be a big hit at my pumpkin carve tomorrow. I do love how the apple and zucchini merry together. Lovely recipe.

Pumpkin Cookies with Penuche Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2005
Huge hit. Made these on a rainy day. My daughter tried a cookie and said "this is better than the stuff" meaning the batter she licked off the beaters. One BIG difference though I used a tin of ED Smith Pumpkin Pie Filling as they didn't have puree. I also patted down the batter after spooning it on the cookie sheet so they were not as cakie. Also, the icing was a bit sweet but only if you iced the whole cookie so I just drizzled it across them and WOWIE amazing. They turned out phenominal. Thanks for the recipe.

Orange Baked Ham

This was pretty good but found it could have used more honey and more zip. Next time I will use this recipe but add Worchestershire sauce.

Savory Bubble Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2006
These were sinfully amazing. I changed it up a bit. After I pulled the dough from the pan I kneeded flour into it as it was too sticky. Then I preped 1/4 cup butter melted, 6 cloves minced garlic, fresh diced rosemary and about 1 heaping tsp of thyme in a bowl. I dipped the bread pieces in there and put them in a 9x13 pan. After I basted on the remainder of the mixture adding 1 leaf of rosemary to the top of each. Then I grated parmesian and cheddar and sprinkled it ontop prior to baking. My fiance ADORED THEM. They were awesome! Thanks for the recipe.

I really loved this dish. Everyone thought it was a lovely decoration until I told them that they are to be eaten. They turned out lovely! The kids thought it was a hoot to eat them too.

Most Excellent Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: May 25, 2006
I used regular pork sausage and removed the casings and made sure to break it up to small pieces. I used real cheddar and added more on top as well. I topped with chives as well. This was excellent and hearty. A make again for sure.

Zucchini Pasta Casserole

I liked this very much and so did my son. My partner hated it and my daughter doesn't like anything haha so she doesn't count. I added cheddar cheese to give it extra umph and I found it lovely.

Skiers' French Toast

Reviewed: May 31, 2006
AWESOME! I used regular store bought sliced bread and removed the crusts. For the egg mixture I used farm fresh eggs but reduced the milk a tad to a little over a cup. I added cinnamon and nutmeg as well. Also I didn't let the syrup mixture simmer I just melted the butter with the sugar and used PAM on the dish first...a MUST with this dish. A new favourite - very fattening but very good!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
This was awesome. I did cook it at 350 in the oven and used a meat thermometer to tell me when it was done. I boiled up the remainder of the marinade and basted with that and then served it as a topping sauce. YUMMER. I used real garlic (4 cloves) and 1/2 a red onion. Very juicy and yummy!

Cowboy Cookies III

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
PHENOMINAL!! To ensure perfect cookies with correct plumpness use 1/2 butter 1/2 shortening also ensure the butter is room temp soft. I also doubled the vanilla and used 1.5 times the chocolate chips. Also used quick oats they were just as good as rolled. Reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup for each sugar amount. Baked for 10 min exactly these were perfect soft ratio. BF said these were the best oatmeal chip cookies and he is a critic! Thanks for a superb recipe I will always use this one.

Kahala's Shrimp and Broccoli Toss

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2006
As is I would rate it bland an okay I wouldn't make it again but I added parmesian, tons of garlic, tomato paste, wine, and basil and the kids gobbled it up haha. Guess it is a different recipe now but the kids liked it much better and so did I.

Barbecue Chicken Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2008
We collectively marked this 4. My partner said it was a 4, his daughter thought it was a 4.5 and I thought it was a 3.5 but I didn't cook the celery enough so I think next time I'll make sure it is REALLY tender. I did all the fixes in the reviews and apparently it was a huge hit. A must make again. Thanks for the recipe.

Maple Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2007
I needed a recipe with only one egg as I failed to shop sigh. I would give this 3.5 stars. The base recipe is definitely lacking. I added 1/2 cup sugar, a capful of vanilla and a bit more milk and they were fine. My mom's recipe still wins out but the kids ate them so no complaints here.

Chicago Deep Dish Pizza

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2006
We found the crust very very wet so had to add a bunch more flour. It was very difficult to handle. Finally got that in and changed the inside completely to pizza sauce, feta, mozzerella, mushrooms, pineapple and pepperoni topped with parmesian cheese and it was awesome. So I guess I am just rating the crust here...and I would rate it a three only cause it did taste nice with the addition of salt but way fussy.

I really liked this recipe. Kids would not touch it as it still looked like spinach ... was hoping for them to look more ... bar like. A tad more salt though. I will make this again. Thanks so much.

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2005
I actually tweaked this recipe a bit and my husband said on a scale from 1-5 it was a 7! I basically just added 1/4 cup oyster sauce, instead of chilli sauce I subbed in Sambal Oleke and added 4 tbsp thai garlic chilli sauce. Then I kept the wings in the sauce after marinading for cooking for 40 minutes. At that point I put them to a separate baking pan and drizzled only a little sauce on them and baked for a further 20 minutes. While baking those I took the remainder of the sauce and heated it on a burner. I then added some cornstarch to water and then added that to the sauce pan and stirred until thick and served this as a dipping sauce with the wings. PHENOMINAL! Thanks for this recipe. Hub asked that I make this for everyone when they come out.
