Sesame Shrimp Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2013
I made this as written with only the addition of some carrots shavings and it was wonderful. I will make this again for sure!

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
These are wonderful! I have made them several times now and my whole family (even my toddler) loves them. I double the recipe with a 2 lb. bag of pintos and freeze them in containers so I always have them on hand. I chop the garlic, jalapeno and onion in the food processor and I use less salt. Delicious!

Blueberry Buckle

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2007
I made the recipe *as written* except that I had to use frozen blueberries and bake it longer...until the toothpick comes out clean. It rose beautifully, had a nice texture, and was a hit with my moms' group. Thanks!

Cola Pot Roast I

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2007
This was surprisingly delicious!! I used Diet Rite Cola (sweetened with Splenda) and spaghetti sauce because that's what I had. I added carrots, onions and potatoes to the pot after browning, and cooked it in the oven while we were at church. The vegetables were the best part! My husband loves my regular roast recipe, but he said that I can make this one again...and that's saying something! Thanks!

Double Chocolate Mint Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2006
Oh yum! These taste like Girl Scout thin mints except chewy and soft! I read the reviews, so I made half of the recipe with only 1 cup of butter and 1 cup brown sugar and one cup white. I also used the new mint chocolate swirl chips and they are delicious. I wish I would have made a whole recipe...so I might have to make some more. Thanks!

Spicy Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2006
This was very easy and very good. I used lime juice because I didn't have any lemons, and I added a dash of Old Bay. My favorite grilled shrimp recipe is still "Grilled Marinated Shrimp" from this site, but I will likely make this again as well. Warning, it is pretty spicy as written, which we liked, but if you like milder things, cut back on the cayenne!

BBQ Chicken Calzones

Reviewed: May 30, 2006
I'm giving this four stars only because of how many things I changed. I used leftover grilled chicken thighs, green onion instead of white, and omitted the cilantro. I also added mushrooms, red bell pepper, fresh tomatoes, and made my own pizza crust (Jay's Signature Pizza Crust from this site). This was absolutely delicious and I will definately make it again, but I will definately keep my modifications.

Hot Pizza Dip

Reviewed: May 21, 2006
This was very popular at the gathering we took it to, but so rich that there was still some leftover. I added some fresh mushrooms that I had on had, but kept everything else pretty much the same. It was very good. Thanks.

Pasta With Tuna Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
This was surprisingly good, but I did make some changes. I cut the amount of sauce in half, and the amount of pasta by more, since those were huge portions! I deglazed the pan with a bit of red wine, and seasoned with italian seasoning (no capers). Hubby really liked it and said he couldn't taste the tuna, but that's OK with me. This was a very easy and economical meal which I will definately make again. Thanks!

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2006
This was very tasty! We thought it was a bit too lemony, so I will use more orange juice and less lemon juice next time. I didn't bread and fry the chicken, just marinated overnight and then cooked in a pan with a small amount of oil. Thanks! We will definately have this again.

Black Bean Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2006
I guess I didn't believe the other reviews, but this really was very spicy! It made great burritos with my homemade salsa, cilantro lime rice, and charley's slow cooker mexican style meat from this site. Thanks.

Honey Pork with Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2006
This was an extremely easy dinner which my husband and I enjoyed. I used leftover pork roast for the meat and green pepper only since that was what I had. Thanks.

Salt and Vinegar Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2006
I used malt vinegar and marinated the chicken overnight, but I think that the malt was too weak. Anyway this was fine, but nothing special. I may try again with another type of vinegar, though.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2006
This was pretty good for being so easy. I used a can of french onion soup rather than the packet, and hubby ate it up and asked for it again. He's pretty picky, so I appreciate the recipe. Thanks!

These were delicious and I solved the weird color problem with the addition of some cocoa powder. I had requests for the recipe at school!
