I am a stay at home Mom with two young children (the eldest starting school in fall 2006). I'm always looking for new meals to cook, but with a very picky and somewhat blah eater for a husband (sorry Gary) I'm somewhat limited.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking roasts. I love the way the house smells with a roast slowly cooking on a cold winter day. I also love experimenting with new combinations of seasonings and marinades.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Saturday mornings we always have a big breakfast, and Sunday nights we always have a big dinner. My children pull chairs up to the counter to try to help, and my husband is always looking over my shoulder. Although sometimes I want to pull my hair out, I can't imagine cooking without my family right there.
My cooking triumphs
I have finally started to be able to get my gravies thick without cursing. And I managed to get my husband to try some different things, not just meat, potatoes and a handful of veggies!
My cooking tragedies
That would have to be a grease fire in the very start of my cooking career, the brownies that overflowed the pan, and of course the crying over burnt toast during a pregnancy:)

Swedish Spareribs
This was excelent! I cut down the allspice to about 1 1/2 tbl. and added some garlic powder and onion powder. After browning the meat I slow cooked it about 8 hrs and also added the drippings from the skillet when I had browned the meat. Will definitely make again. Also, the broth thickens up wonderfully- perfect over egg noodles.

Beef Stew VI
This was great! I had to add alittle water for the xtra veggies I threw in and I added a few more seasonings like adobo and cumin and some lime juice and worcestershire sauce. I let it simmer all day and the meat jsut fell apart. Now I have a new way to make stew, thanks!

Bachelor Buttons II
I loved this recipe! My kids and I were home and it was just too hot to be outside so we decided to make cookies. I needed something simple, my cabinets were pretty bare and this was perfect. They loved having an easy recipe to help out with and even my very picky husband couldn't keep his hands out of the cookie jar. We will definitely be making these again,soon!
