Simple Beef Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2014
This recipe is wonderful. Like a few others, I don't like BBQ sauce on my short ribs. We love the flavor of these. My only change is I didn't use beer - substituted more beef broth. Cooked in a crock pot. Prepared brown rice and used the sauce/drippings over everything. We can't get enough of this meal.

Mushroom Slow Cooker Roast Beef

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
Ok - I TRIED to like this really. Maybe it is the type of beer, but my husband (who works in a restaurant)didn't think it was the beer. I used Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Maybe it was the combination of that beer with the onion soup mix but the seasoning of the roast and the vegetable was inedible. Unfortunately, I was making this for a birthday dinner celebration as ONE of the main courses (had shrimp wrapped in bacon as the other)and had to rush around in the last hour to do everything possible to change the flavor of the meat and added carrots. Finally worked out but not without some seasoning magic from my husband. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

Jimmy Dean Hearty Sausage Mini Quiches

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2013
Ok - I just tried this recipe for the first time and it was a hit at the brunch today. I followed the recipe fairly close but made a few minor changes after reading all the reviews. First, I used half or the recommended sausage. Second, I did not use baking cups but sprayed a non-stick olive oil spray and had no problems. They came right out of the pan. Third, the only vegetable that I added were the green onions as this was a family brunch with a lot of young children attending. I used both cheddar (1/2 cup) and mozzarella (1/4 cup) and I sprinkled a small amount of grated parmesan cheese on top of the un-baked mixture. Then I baked them. I also added the southern style hash brown potatoes and it made twelve regular size quiches. Very good - everyone loved them and this will now be a holiday regular for us.

Grilled Chicken Thighs Tandoori

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2013
Chicken was very good and moist. I cooked it pretty much as instructed except I didn't wipe off the marinade before grilling and after taking chicken off the grill, I put into a hot oven for about five more minutes to crisp it up a bit. Will make again.

Pork Carnitas

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2012
This recipe is perfect! I followed it exactly with one exception - I added about 1/2 cup of coca cola to the liquid while the meat was simmmering and it turned out great. My husband is Mexican and every time we are in Mexico, my favorite food is the pork carnitas from the little trucks. I have been trying to make something that comes close and this recipe is it. Thank you for sharing this. I will be making this one often!

Crab Quiche

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2007
I have used this recipe so many times for so many different occassions and I am thrilled at the outcome every time. Every one loves this dish - I have even made it for my children that attend my child care and they love it also. It is a nice enough dish to serve for special occassions and also for weekly family use.

Cheesy Potato Gratin

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2006
Loved this recipe. Much better than I expected. I did use more potatoes than it called for so I didn't experience the "oilyness" that some mentioned. I will be making this recipe again tonight, but I don't have enough heavy cream so I am trying 1 cup condensed milk instead.
