My favorite things to cook
Mexican food is my all time favorite food, because it is SO easy to make and I never get sick of eating it. Indian food is tricky for me - I find I never make it as good as my favorite Indian restaurant.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My good ol' English-Norwegian parents weren't too adventurous growing up. We ate a lot of meat and potatoes - with not a lot of flavor. I don't get too excited any more about meatloaf and pot roast, but I'll never give up pasties or lefsa!!
My cooking tragedies
Once while trying to make banana bread, the bread never really became bread when it was baking - just stayed soupy! Smelled delicious though. So I thought I would try it again since I had some more bananas, figuring I just added the wrong amount of something. The second time - it happened again! Finally I realized I was using POWDERED SUGAR instead of flour. Oh boy. Needless to say, there was not a third attempt that night, but I have made perfect banana bread since :)

Favorite Old Fashioned Gingerbread
I doubled the spices and added a half cup of apple sauce per others suggestions and baked in an 8x8 pan (instead of 9x9) with no issues. Make sure not to over-bake. Tastes amazing warmed up with home made whipped cream. Next time I'll try ice cream!

Souvlaki
I rarely review recipes, but this souvlaki was amazing. The meat was incredibly tender. Served with the tzatziki sauce from this website and mango couscous. Best meal I've made in a very long time! Oh and I used a pork loin (not tenderloin) and only needed one to serve 4 people.
