Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2006
Very good recipe! Even my picky 4 year old loved it. I used chicken broth instead of water as others suggested. I also used cider vinegar instead of red wine vinegar. I doubled the sauce since my family likes alot of sauce. It is a little thin but we didn't mind that. Thanks for the great recipe K! I followed this recipe exactly the second time and it was just as good!

Vanilla Ice Cream V

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2006
I have made this recipe numerous times with numerous alterations and have finally find the one that works for me. I decrease the extract (personal preference). I heat the half-n-half/cream and sugar on the stove until the sugar is dissolved the night before I want to make the ice cream. I chill the mixture all night. I put the ice cream in my ice cream maker for about 25 min. Put it in the freezer for about 2 hours. Take it out and let it soften a little and serve. It was wonderful!! I make it way to often and my chocaholic son never seems to mind that it is vanilla!

G's Flank Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2006
My husband loved this recipe. I followed the recipe exactly and the steak was moist and tender. I put the steak in a 9X9 square glass dish and marinated it 6 hours because I forgot about the recommendations to marinate it overnight but it did not seem to matter. I did not use low sodium soy sauce and I personally did not find it salty. I thought it was a really good marinade and I will use it again!

Easy Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2006
I gave this recipe 3 stars but I did not make the recipe exactly. To make it "lighter" I used half and half instead of the cream and whole milk instead of the 2%. I do not recommend this as it was very icy. My kids liked it but my husband and I did not. I will try it again the correct way and not worry about the fat content!****4 stars! I made this again and used all half-n-half. I heated it and stirred the sugar in. Cooled the mixture. Added about 1/2 the extracts and other ingredients. It was wonderful!

Spinach Garlic Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
I gave it 3 stars because I had to doctor this recipe. It is slightly bland as is. I added grilled chicken and parm cheese. Also I cooked the spinach longer than it said because I do not like crunchy spinach. Next time I will add a seasoning to the pasta also. Great recipe once things are added to your liking. My one son loved this. I will definitely make it again.

Andrea's Pasta Fagioli

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2006
Very good recipe! I used chicken broth instead of water and about 1/2 lb of pasta. Also, I do not simmer the parmesan cheese in the soup as the recipe calls for. I mix it in at the end right before I serve it (and add some to the top since my family loves cheese!). I have actually made this for awhile just now got around to rating it. This is a keeper!

Rita's Spinach Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
I thought this recipe was okay but my boys did not like it. I thought it needed more pasta and the spinach was too crunchy. Next time I may mix everything instead of layering it.

Hungarian Goulash I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
I am very glad I tried this recipe. My husband and picky children loved it (even the 2 yr old who does not eat alot of beef). I used beef broth instead of water as others suggested (I used the whole can which is 2 cups). I also omitted salt to the broth/paste mixture. I used 2 tsp salt in the coating for the beef like the recipe called for and I felt like that was too much also. I will cut it down to 1 tsp next time. Overall a very good recipe. I will be making this again.

Spaetzle I

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2006
The flavor was as expected but the spaetzle was very chewy. I did not use all the water almost like I was making homemade pasta or pie crust. I do not know what I was thinking but it was a big mistake! It was almost impossible to squeeze out of the ricer. This would have been good if I would have followed the directions. I will definitely make this again the right way! Very good with Hungarian Goulash I.

Spinach Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2006
I liked this recipe once I made some adjustments. I added more chicken broth, cooked the tortellini separate to al dente, added minced garlic instead of the garlic powder and omitted the basil. I may add parsley instead. We all really liked this soup. I think adding shredded cooked chicken would be a good addition also and I will probably try that.

Polenta

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2006
I love polenta! The only difference is my great aunt uses 2 cups cold water to every 1 cup cornmeal. It makes a very firm polenta. This is the way I prefer it since I grew up with it this way. She only serves it with a red (tomato based) gravy but it is also good as a side dish to pot roast with beef gravy.

Simple Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2006
I am very picky about sloppy joe recipes but I did like this one. I had an accident with the soy sauce and added to much and still knew that I would like it with less soy sauce! My mom and dad ate it and they decreased the soy sauce to 1 Tbsp. They gave it 5 stars! I love that it is a tomato sauce based recipe. It was not tangy and I love that. Thanks for a great recipe! 11/10 update My aunt and uncle also tried this recipe on my suggestion and they give it 5 stars also! I will definitely be making this for my son's upcoming birthday party! Thanks!

Indian Saffron Rice

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2006
I love this recipe. I also used saffron threads instead of the powder. I like to add white wine and use chicken broth instead of the water. I use this recipe and make risotto because my family loves it that way. Enjoy!

Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
These biscuits are wonderful! The recipe I have calls for milk instead of water. It also does not call for the parsley or onion powder but I will probably try that next time. Definitely a keeper.

Pecan Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
This is a 5 star recipe! Thank you Linda for cooking the mixture first. It makes all the difference in the world. Once you have tasted this pie, you will never go back to the non cooked ones! My ingredients varied a little bit. I use 1 1/2 cups sugar, 1/2 cup corn syrup, 1/4 cup butter, 3 eggs, 1 cup pecans, 1 tsp vanilla. Thank you Linda for a great posting!

I love this recipe. I have taken it to many pot lucks and I never have leftovers. The only difference between my recipe and this one is I use 1/2 stick of butter and 1 cup powdered sugar. Great recipe!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

Wonderfully easy pie crust. My mother used this recipe and she passed it on to me. The only variation I have is I use 1 1/3 cups flour and 1/2 tsp salt.
