Soft Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
This was a hit with my entire family. They were not overly sweet which I liked. My husband did think I should add a little more peanut butter next time. Thanks for the great recipe! Update** I initially reviewed this recipe right after I made these cookies. The next day they were hard and I do not feel like I overbaked them. Sorry but I probably will not try them again. Thanks anyway.

Cinnamon Honey Butter

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
I hosted a dinner party and served this butter along with biscuits. I omitted the powdered sugar, used 1/4 cup honey and only 1/2 tsp cinnamon. I only wanted the butter to have a slight cinnamon flavor. Everyone agreed this butter was fabulous!

Beef Burgundy I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2006
Wonderful! I will definitely be making this again. I added a little more beef broth instead of wine (only because I was out of wine lol!)when I added the mushrooms and onions. I used a good quality Cabernet Sauvignon and I thickened the sauce with 2 Tbsp cornstarch mixed in some room temp beef broth. Served it over rice. Thanks for the great recipe Faith.

French Onion Soup III

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2006
I have to agree with Amy S and others. Left alone this soup is slightly bland. I added salt, pepper and a little bit of thyme. I also cooked my onions in olive oil instead of butter. I should have added some white wine but forgot. I really missed that flavor. While this is not a bad soup, I do prefer French Onion Soup V from this web site so far. Thanks for the recipe but I will probably keep looking.

Pizza Sauce II

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
I thought this was a very good sauce recipe. I used Jay's Pizza Crust recipe from this site. Excellent combination!! My family agreed (yeah!!!). This will be the sauce and dough recipe I use from now on. I did cut the recipe in half and could have had enough for 3 scimpy on the sauce pizzas. I almost used the amount I had on 2 and my husband complained it was a little too saucy for him. Please note my family does not like a lot of sauce! If you do, you should probably disregard how much I think this recipe makes. Thank you so much Sara for a wonderful sauce recipe!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2006
This crust is definitely fantastic! I love thick crust pizza so I only made one crust with this recipe. It was not heavy or greasy tasting but still very filling. My entire family ate it and loved it. We have found the crust for us! Thank you Jason!

Sour Cream and Chive Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
My entire family loved this recipe even my husband who had to eat it reheated. It was sooo creamy and delicious. I added 3 Tbsp butter and used dried chives instead of fresh. Thanks so much for the recipe!

BBQ Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
Delicious idea Kimi! I definitely prefer this to regular pizza unfortunately my family does not. I made quite a few changes to suit my tastes. I made my own pizza crust, used a mild barbecue sauce, used mozzarella cheese and added pineapple. My husband thought it looked disgusting but it was wonderful! I forgot about the red onion but will definitely add it next time. Thanks for the pizza recipe!

McCormick's Classic Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
My husband loves pumpkin anything especially pie! This is a 5 star recipe with a few variations. I prefer to use white sugar about 3/4 cup. I also like to use separate spices instead of pumpkin pie spice (1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ginger, 1/4 tsp ground cloves). Very good recipe!

Cod with Italian Crumb Topping

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2006
I gave this 5 stars because I do not like fish and I could eat fish prepared this way. I used Hake instead of cod (it was what was on sale!) and I added more breadcrumbs for the cornmeal since I was out. I also added some onion powder. I used alot of lemon juice (in place of the egg white). The lemon juice seemed to cut the fishy taste because the dish was mild tasting. Definitely will make this again. My youngest mowed it down and my oldest ate it without too much complaint. Thanks for the great recipe!

Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2006
When I make these deviled eggs the plate is always wiped clean. I use real mustard not the dry. I also increase all the ingredients except the egg. I like to have extra sauce to pile the eggs high! Very good recipe.

Party Pinwheels

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
I love these appetizers. I have taken them to many holiday gatherings and they always disappear quickly! I use green olives instead of black and I have never used cheese (but I might next time!). This is definitely a keeper. Thanks!

Water Chestnuts Wrapped in Bacon

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
I love this chestnut appetizer. I have made it for my son's b-day parties and they are always well received. I mix 1/2 cup brown sugar with 4 Tbsp soy sauce for 2 cans water chestnuts. I like the addition of the brown sugar. I also make sure to marinate them. I will definitely make this recipe again!

Italian Wedding Soup II

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
I am giving this recipe 4 stars since it is the most like the soup I make. The other recipes on this web site do not come close to the soup my husband and I grew up with. The one glaring omission in this recipe is the PASTA! Acini di pepe is a must in this recipe. Add to your taste. I also prefer to use fresh spinach instead of escarole but my husband is use to escarole and likes it. I do not add the egg at the end of the recipe since I do not prefer it this way. I also add some minced garlic. Overall this recipe has promise!

Grandma's Gnocchi

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
Update** I watched a show on food network and they suggested chilling the potatoes after running them thru the potato ricer. Also, they recommended using only enough flour to make the mixture come together.**My entire family including my little boys love gnocchi. I gave this recipe 4 stars because my recipe is a little different (and I love my recipe!). I use 2 cups flour instead of 1 and no olive oil. I do add parmesan cheese (at least 3 Tbsp). As for potatoes, I use 4 large baking potatoes. I have mashed my potatoes in many different ways and have found the best way is to use a potato ricer. It was well worth the investment (I think it was about $30) since my family loves this meal. Thanks for the posting!

I have made these cheesecakes for years! I make regular cheesecake (not chocolate) and I also purchase 1 can of cherry pie filling. I spoon the cherries and some filling onto the mini cheesecakes. They are always a hit!

Strawberry Pie V

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2006
This is similar to my grandmother's recipe. It is requested often. The only variations are less water (1 cup), more cornstarch (3 Tbsp) plus the addition of 2 Tbsp light karo syrup. This is the only strawberry pie my family makes. It is wonderful!
