Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken

Reviewed: May 23, 2008
My boys and my husband liked this recipe very much. I doubled the sauce like others suggested. I am not sure it is really necessary. I used a mixture of white and dark meat chicken but will stick to dark meat next time.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs II

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
I did not care for this recipe. I baked the meatballs in the oven and poured the sauce over top allowing it to simmer in the oven. It had a very strong flavor of vinegar. It just did not work for me.

Last Minute Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 1, 2008
Wonderful simple side dish. Most of the time I will omit the butter for a lighter side dish. Also, I have sauteed garlic and onion with the mushrooms and put this mixture on top of toasted italian bread sprinkled with a little bit of mozzarella cheese. Makes a great lunch.

Caramel Apple Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
This recipe is exactly like the Paula Deen recipe I downloaded off the Food Network. The entire family loved it. It is so simple to make.

Eclair Cake

This was so easy and so good. I used french vanilla pudding and made my own chocolate frosting. The entire family went for seconds.

Lemonade Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
These cookies are so good! They have a nice lemon flavor which I do not think is overpowering but I really like lemon. I am so glad to have found this recipe again. My mom and I have made these for years but I copied the recipe down wrong and my mom couldn't find her copy. These are the exact directions. We never made any changes except sometimes I would use lime concentrate for a change.

Honey Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
My husband and boys really liked this glaze. I only tried this recipe because I was out of OJ for the recipe I normally use. I am so glad I was out!! I cut the recipe down because I had ham slices not a whole ham. I mixed a pinch of ground cloves into the glaze. I baked the ham slices in the glaze until warm. This is definitely one I will be using on the holidays!

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2008
My family enjoyed this recipe. I did not feel that the sauce was bland. I used fat-free sour cream and the sauce had a tangy light sour cream flavor which was enough for me. I do not want a sauce that overpowers just compliments. I did make sure to generously season the pork chops before dredging in the flour. I did not feel like using my slowcooker so I baked them according to another pork chop recipe I have. I used 1 can chicken broth instead of the bouillon and baked them for 45 minutes in a 350 oven. After removing the chops from the broth, I sprinkled some mozzarella cheese on top. Served noodles and cauliflower on the side. I spooned some of the sauce over the noodles and since the meal was very white I sprinkled some chives over the noodles. I really enjoyed this and my husband went back for seconds so I will definitely make this again. My 2 boys 5 and 3 ate without complaint.

Orange Roughy Parmesan

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
This was good. My husband cooked it in a skillet (because he did not read the directions!) and forgot to use lemon juice so it tasted a little fishy to me but the coating was good and I will use it again.

Pork Tenderloin in Bourbon

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2008
My family loved this recipe (5 and 3 yr old kids included)! I used a 1 1b tenderloin but kept the same amount of sauce. I baked the tenderloin in the sauce basting it occasionally. I had to bake it about 1 hr. It was moist, tender and had a wonderful flavor.

Basic Fondue

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
The flavor was okay but I did not like the consistency. I have made fondue before which turned out perfect. It coated the bread and veggies. This didn't coat it just ran off. It also was not smooth like the other fondue. Sorry but this is a no for me.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
This pizza is wonderful. BBQ chicken is still my favorite but this curbs my craving for wings. I used Rhodes bread dough for my crust (quick, easy and so good). Spooned on the light ranch dressing too my taste. Melted about 1 Tbsp butter in a skillet added the hot sauce (about 2 Tbsp) and the chicken and heated it through because my chicken was frozen. I used about 2 chicken breasts so the pizza was not heavy with chicken but it was enough for me. Sprinkle on the cheese. Loved it!!

Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2008
This was my first attempt at fondue and we loved it. I made this for myself and my husband for Valentine's Day so I halved the recipe. I used Gruyere cheese only and I coated the cheese with the flour before adding it to the wine and I left out the salt and the nutmeg. I did not miss the salt at all. I wasn't sure how nutmeg would pair with a strong wine taste so that is why I chose to leave that out. We used crusty pieces of french bread and cauliflower florets for dunking. YUM-O! My new fondue pot will not go to waste and I have justified this purchase to my husband. It has been a good day!!!!

Baked Potato Skins

They were very good not as crispy as I had hoped for. I microwaved them so maybe that made the difference. I may try broiling them next time.

Overnight French Toast II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2008
This was really good! Definitely sweet so beware if that is not your cup of tea. I used italian bread because that was all my market had other than that I followed the recipe. I left it the frig for 24 hours. I was worried that it would be dry but it wasn't.

Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2008
I reduced the butter to 1/4 cup and seasoned the chicken with salt and pepper before pouring on the sauce. I pounded the chicken flat to decrease the baking time. I was not sure what to expect out of this dish but it was good. My two boys ate it without complaint and that is all I ask for. I will be making this again.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2008
This was really good. I doubled the sauce but left the amount of apples the same. This made just enough sauce but next time I will make even more. I salt and peppered the chops before browning them.
