Baked Potato Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2005
Okay, me again. My party just ended and the dip was a huge hit. Not a spoonful left when all was said and done. Everyone loved it. I think making it well in advance and chilling it for a long time makes a difference. I garnished it with cheese, bacon, and onions, so it was pretty.

Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2005
This turned out very watery, even though I didn't use but 6 oz. of salsa. The flavor was good, but it was hard to get past the watery appearance. Maybe I did something wrong?

Sweet Sausage Marsala

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2005
I didn't have all the exact ingredients, but it still turned out well. I used breakfast sausage rather than links, only green pepper (didn't have red), and penne pasta instead of bowtie. I used about a half cup of the wine and 2 cans of the tomatoes. It was tasty even though I veered off the recipe quite a bit.

Pecan Pie V

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2005
I did not like this at all. The filling was not enough, so I doubled the recipe. I guess I just like the old karo syrup way of making it after all.

Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2006
This is yummy! I didn't use whipping cream because I bought just heavy cream accidentally, so I used some Cool Whip that I had in the fridge, and it really was good! I put it on a banana cake and it was so much better than a standard cream cheese frosting!

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
Sorry, but we did not like this at all. The topping just doesn't cover the entire cake and sank into the batter. Won't be making this again.

Cherry Gelatin Squares

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2006
I have to revise my rating. My kids absolutely love this, and have asked me to make it again. The day after I wrote the review, we had the leftovers of it with dinner and we all liked it much better. So, I guess I will be making it again after all! :-)

Balsamic Vinegar and Olive Oil Dressing

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2006
I didn't add the herbs , so maybe that's what made it not that great. I added a little sugar to it, and some apples and pecans. It tasted weird, but my kids thought the lettuce was bad because the balsamic dressing makes the lettuce brown. I don't think I'll use again.

Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2007
This cake is pretty good for a homemade cake. I used half all-purpose flour and half cake flour, which gave it a finer texture. My son liked the cake better than the frosting, but I liked them together a lot.

Chicken Chimichangas with Green Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2007
I thought this was really good. Even my husband and kids liked it and they don't normally like tex-mex stuff at all. The kids didn't use the "green sauce". I do think that next time, I will definitely make only half of the sauce. We had a LOT left over. Also, I realized I didn't have enough cream cheese, so I only used half of that (or less, even)and it still came out fine. It was less fattening that way, too. :-) I will definitely make this again. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Pot Pie IV

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2007
I must have put in too much broccoli, so it wasn't that great. My husband loved it but my kids didn't. And I like broccoli, but it was just too overpowering. Other than that, it was just okay. It was easy, so I'd probably still try it in a pinch, but use different veggies.

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2007
Loved it! My entire family begged for me to make it again and again. I used Sweet Baby Rays mixed with a local bbq sauce. Next time I think I'll add a little liquid smoke to the crock pot, during the cooking time. Also, I cooked it for 5 hours on high on accident, but it came out great! Thanks for the recipe!

Easy, Cheesy Tortellini Bake

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2007
I thought this could be a great dish, but the way it is written wasn't great for some of our likes and dislikes. I used a 20 ounce package of tortellini, which was perfect with the amount of sauce. But next time I will cut the spinach in half, as my kids wouldn't eat it because there was too much. I love spinach and there seemed too much for even me. I also didn't like the parmesan cheese on the top and would omit that the next time. It didn't seem to blend well, nor did it melt at all, so it made a weird crust on top. I do think that putting in some chopped sun-dried tomatoes would be so good in this. The dish reminded me of a dish I get when I dine at Olive Garden that has sun-dried tomatoes in it. I think I'd give this recipe 5 stars with those few changes, which are mostly just personal preferences and not reflective of the recipe itself. My husband thought this dish was "excellent" as is, but didn't care as much for the spinach and suggested less of it next time. It is a very easy recipe, which I love!

One Bowl Brownies

Reviewed: May 31, 2007
These were awful. My daughter made them and followed the recipe exactly. They were so gooey after 35 minutes that she baked them another ten minutes. Then they were still gooey. After cooling, they turned into cement. We had to soak the entire thing in water just to be able to get them out of the pan so we could use the pan again. Sorry, but we won't be making these ever again.

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2007
I must have done something wrong, because it was a soupy mess in my bread maker. I just did the dough part, with plans to put it in the bread pans and bake it in the oven (I don't like bread machine bread). But when I went to get it out of the bread machine, I literally had to pour it out. Very sticky. At the same time, I made the same recipe in a bowl by hand. That one turned out okay, so I'm not really sure why the one in the bread machine was so soupy. Maybe it just has to be made completely in the bread machine to do well. I let it rise for over an hour in the pans and it didn't do real well there either, but maybe that's because I used cold buttermilk instead of at "room temp". I've made easier recipes that turn out just as well, so I don't think I'll make this one again. It sounds like everyone else loves it, though, so it could have just been that I made a mistake somewhere along the line.

Cherry Cola Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2007
The first time I made this, I didn't like it at all. It seemed very thick. But my son LOVED it and asked me to make it again, so I did. It was much better the second time, but I'm not sure why. I think because I used black cherry soda the first time, and a lemon-lime soda the second time. But now we really like it, and in fact, I'm making it today for our 4th of July dinner!

German Pancake

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
Just made this for dinner and it was wonderful! The syrup really makes the dish. And it's nice to have all the ingredients on hand. It's quick, simple, and great. My husband said it should be our new Sunday breakfast, but it's really an 'anytime' meal. Thanks for the recipe!

Chili Rick's

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2007
I'm afraid I'll be the decenting voice here. We didn't like this at all. My family kept saying it smelled like I was making BBQ sauce and it tasted like it. I didn't add the sausage, but other than that I followed the recipe exactly. Think I'll stick to my standby. Thanks anyway.

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2008
This is really good, but I didn't bake mine. It seemed enough people had issues with it after baking it, and it tasted great before baking, so I figured I'd just leave it the way it was before baking, and I'm glad I did. Right after I mixed the macaroni and cheese sauce mixture, I was thinking it didn't have enough of the macaroni and too much sauce, but after 15 minutes of sitting in the pot, the noodles absorbed the moisture and it was then perfect. I could see how it would get very dry if you baked it. I will make again!

German Chocolate Cake Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2008
I'm so glad I made this recipe and not one of the others that were on this site. This one looked a lot easier but didn't have as many ratings. I decided to give this one a try and it was wonderful! My husband loves German Chocolate cake and so I made it for his birthday. I decided to go for a home made frosting instead of out of the can, and I'm glad I did. This is easy to make. I boiled it for about 20 minutes on medium, added the nuts and coconut and let cool. I didn't have to add anything to get it to be thick enough, like I read about in other reviews of other recipes. This one turned out great and my husband loved it!
