Good Dog Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2006
the dogs i made these for LOVED them! i wondered how much more a dog would love homemade treats (they snarf down ANY kind of treat!) but they really liked these. when given a choice between these treats and store bought, the dogs picked these! (yellow lab, and a collie/shepherd mix)

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2006
very good and easy to make! i just made one modification - instead of 1 cup of oil, i did 1/2 cup oil, 1/2 cup applesauce, and it still tastes delicious and moist. next time, i might use 1/4 cup oil and 3/4 cup applesauce (unsweetened), and i will probably increase the spices by 50%. overall, a great, easy delicious bread!

Baked Ziti I

This is great! I get rave reviews when I serve it. It's easy to prepare ahead of time, and just stick in the oven later.

Cinnamon Swirl Bundt Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
I followed the recipe exactly, and while the cake looked delicious, the "cake" part was very bland. It was missing something, and I couldn't put my finger on it. The sugar/cinnamon mixture was good, if it wasn't for that, I may have tossed the whole cake.

Slow Cooker Dump and Go Cheesy Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
Quick, easy and tasty. I've made this several times, you cannot beat how easy it is to throw this together in the morning on your way out the door to work. I have tweaked it a bit, and usually end up using one can of cheddar cheese, and one can of cream of broccoli or cream of chicken. We serve it over brown rice with steamed veggies. Delicious!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
My first attempt at making Beef Stew. This was perfect, a very "traditional" recipe. Easy, as well.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
Perfect! Much tastier than Bisquick, and just as easy. I have made some changes along the way...I usually use half whole wheat flour, and I add two tablespoons of ground flax seed meal to make it healthier. Delicious.

Spicy Oil and Vinegar Bread Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2010
Good. I have been making a dip like this for a while, I usually make it right as we're about to eat it, this time I let it sit overnight, and I don't really notice a difference. It is vinegar-y, but we love balsamic. I also added about a teaspoon of dried rosemary.

Three Cheese Chicken Penne Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2011
Easy and tasty. I used the 1.5 cups pasta the recipe called for, but I think it could have used 2 cups. I also added onion and garlic when I sauteed the chicken. It was very good! Looks like leftovers will freeze well.

Pizza Dough II

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
Great, easy recipe. Makes 3 14" crusts. I cooked one immediately, and froze the other two dough balls. They froze very well, and thawed and cooked up just like the fresh dough. The second time I made this recipe, I used 1/2 whole wheat flour, 1/2 regular flour, and it was still great. Next time, I will try adding some spices to the dough!

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2011
Good! Be sure to make this several hours in advance, so it can sit, and the flavors can mesh together. I love oregano, but I think this recipe had too much. I would half the amount of oregano next time.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2011
Pretty good! I was out of honey, so I used white sugar. I only used 1 tablespoon, based upon other reviews, and it was still too sweet for me. I also had to add a little more water, the sauce was a little too thick for me. Good flavor though, will use again, but next time I'll just add a pinch of sugar/honey. UPDATED: This is our go-to sauce recipe. I use it every Friday night, with these modifications: 8oz water instead of 6oz, and only 1 scant teaspoon of honey, instead of 2 Tbsp. It's great, and I usually double it and freeze the extra, it thaws beautifully!

Overnight Caramel French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
This is a fabulous recipe! As written, it is a 4 star. Do NOT use regular sandwich bread! You MUST use a crusty french bread loaf, it makes all the difference. Also, the additional 1/4 cup of white sugar is not needed. This is so easy to prepare, and can be made the night before, which I love! I've made it for Christmas Day breakfast, and Easter Brunch! Leftovers the next day are fabulous, too. If you're cooking this for more than 4 people, double the recipe, you won't be sorry!

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: May 11, 2011
Good and easy! Quick to make, these are ingredients I always have in the house. I used a whole 10oz box of frozen broccoli, instead of just the cup. My 1 year old loved it too!

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
This is great - quick, easy, and tasty. We always have it with chili. It also makes great toast! My 3yo and 1yo like to eat it, too. I've had the best luck using a JW Dundee's Honey Brown Lager, but try it with different types of beer! I usually do a little less brown sugar than it calls for, but that is just our personal preference.

Hot Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
This was very simple to put together, but I don't think I'll be making it again. It was OK (tasted better after it cooled down a bit), but it wasn't outstanding. It was missing something...more seasonings? I couldn't put my finger on it.

Espinacas con Garbanzos (Spinach with Garbanzo Beans)

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
Yum! So easy, and delicious! It looks so simple, but the flavors really come together, and it tastes awesome. My husband and I ate the whole thing for our main dish! It does not have a very "spinach-y" taste, probably because of the seasonings. Try it!
