Michelle's Soft Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
These were fine, but not the best I have had from this site. I like the recipe for Easy Sugar Cookies better for flavor, although these are probably better for softness.

Basic Ham and Bean Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
This was okay for me. My husband liked it better than me, but as I made it, I am sticking to my rating. I usually love mustard, but it didn't taste right for me in this recipe. Perhaps if I eliminate that in the future, it may be a lot better. I will try that next time, as I think that would really make this soup for me.

Barbecue Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
This was good, but I also had to add some barbecue sauce to thicken it up and make it more flavorful. As good as this was, I am not sure I will be making again.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2007
Great bread! I also added one diced Granny Smith apple after I mixed everything together. In the mix I followed other reviewers and put 1 1/2 packets apple/cinnamon oatmeal, and then for the top I mixed 1/8 cup packed brown sugar with 1 teas. melted butter, 1 teas. flour and the remaining half a packet of oatmeal and sprinkled this on top per other reviewers. I baked the full 60 min, and it was moist and full of flavor. I thought it was a tad sweet even, but the rest of the family all said 5 stars! Thank you for this recipe!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
So good, and I was never a cheesecake fan. I did substitute heavy cream for the milk in the recipe. I put it in the oven as stated and put the raised cookie sheet with some water on the lower oven shelf. I left in oven for close to 6 hours after baking, and no cracks. It was perfect! Oh, I also just used a graham cracker crust recipe from the already crushed graham cracker box, and it was just fine. Thanks for the recipe!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2007
So good! I followed directions but reduced the chocolate chips by 1/2 c. After mixing I refrigerated the dough for 1 1/2 hours before baking. I leveled off dough into 1/4 c. measuring cup, but only ended up with 14 cookies. They took longer to bake (probably because the dough was chilled) You will probably want to double this recipe as you will love them and they go fast!

Dad's Steak Rub

Amazingly good! You really don't taste a strong sweetness, it is just a hint and it compliments the rest of the ingredients. I made it according to recipe. Thank you!

Cheddar Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2007
These were good, not great. However, I did not do the sauce as they had, so maybe that would have changed my rating. I just used enchilada sauce from a can, which was good in itself, so my 4 rating is based on the meat mixture. Like others I added some onion and garlic powder to the beef mixture.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2007
So good! I didn't have ground cloves, so I did what another user did and substituted pumpkin pie spice for that and the cinnamon (1.5 Tbs). I then added a little more cinnamon after I tasted the batter. Thanks for a great recipe!

Amazing Chicken

Reviewed: May 12, 2007
This was good chicken. Not wow, but good. I added garlic powder and onion powder to the mayo, but I spread on with a knife a thin layer of mayo, and didn't even end up using 1/2 of it, so with that I lost some of the seasonings I added. I also added 1/2 c. grated parmasan cheese to the bread crumbs.

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: May 10, 2007
Another amazing 5 star rating. I substituted in 1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour for 1 1/2 white flour. I also substitued in 1 1/4 c. blueberries in place of the raisins. I gently kneaded this into a rectangle the size of my large cutting board. I cut it in half both ways, and then the 4 large squares I cut in half again. I then cut each little square diagonal and ended up with 32 small triangles. I sprayed two cookie sheets with Crisco non-stick cooking spray with Pillsbury flour, and placed 16 triangles on each sheet. It took a while to cook. I had to keep adding time as I had both cookie sheets in the oven at the same time. They came off the cookie sheets no problem. They actually increased into perfect-sized scones to take to a ladies breakfast. They were so good! Next time I am going to add in some cinnamon. Thanks for the recipe!

Ann's Sister's Meatloaf Recipe

Reviewed: May 1, 2007
Wow. I am not usually the one to disagree with the crowd of reviewers on recipes, but this was not good, and my husband and daughter agree. I did use the tomato sauce instead of subbing ketchup, so maybe that would made some difference. I followed the recipe exactly except the MSG. We really did not like the texture of this. It was heavy and bland. We prefer the mini meatloaf recipe from this website.

Apple Pie Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2007
These were good, but not great. It has a lot of sugar in it. I did add 1 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg to the mixture, and then 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon and 1/2 tsp nutmeg to the topping. I used Granny Smith apples - 2 heaping diced cups worth, and still did not have much apple flavor. My husband liked them, but again, too sweet and little apple flavor for me. I have had apple cake before from Tastefully Simple, and that is what it reminded me of. High rating is from husband.

Fudgy Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2007
I loved this muffin. My husband on the other hand wished it was more moist. I gave it a 5 star for the flavor, and I will work on figuring out how to make it more moist without compromising the flavor. I did omit the cinnamon, and I substitued 1/2 c. sour cream for the applesauce, as I had none on hand. I also added a dash of salt. These are way better than the box muffins I have been making to send to work with my husband. Thanks! 4/29/07 - made this muffins again, and this time used the applesauce called for instead of sour cream I had subbed before. I also increased the margarine to 1/2 c. and added some milk (probably 1/4 c.) and they were nice and moist. Yummy!

Tater Tot Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2007
This was good. It was similar to a Hamburger Helper meal. I added some Worchestershire sauce, garlic powder and seasoned salt to the meat for more flavor. Husband loved the leftovers, so that was a plus.
