About this Cook
I grew up on a farm, the oldest of four daughters. My Mom taught me to cook at a young age, as she had the three younger children to look after and also had to work on the farm. I'm married, live out in the country, and enjoy gardening and spending time outdoors. I also love to collect antiques.
My favorite things to cook
I tend to like pasta dishes, just throwing things together without a recipe. I also like to take new desserts to parties and family functions.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of the goodies we made a Christmas time. I suppose cut-out sugar cookies are at the top of the list.
My cooking triumphs
I won a local recipe/cooking contest, and received all sorts of fun prizes.
My cooking tragedies
Some beef stroganoff I made for my hubby while we were still dating. It didn't burn up or anything, but just didn't taste good.

Mexican Casserole
As with everyone else, I added a few different touches. I had some cubed chicken and some shredded--I think using all shredded would have been better. I put some saute'd onions and garlic in with the chicken mixture, and used 2 medium sized cans of Mexi-corn instead of regular corn. Used about 3/4 of a cup of salsa, and also threw in a small can of diced chilis. As I love a creamy-goopy casserole, I put in a can of Nacho Cheese soup, plus maybe a third of a cup of water to thin it out just a bit. Followed the directions for the topping, and it turned out great--just the right consistency and very yummy!

Orange Cream Fudge
Made this last night and it turned out very good. Used half granulated sugar and half powdered sugar. The only problem I had was getting the white chips totally melted. There are small bits of the chips throughout the fudge, which doesn't really hurt the taste at all. Next time I might put the chips in the microwave for a bit to make sure they are totally melted. Hubby really liked this fudge.

Great Pumpkin Dessert
Delicious and very easy to make. I won the dessert category of a local cooking contest with this recipe.
