Ham with Honey and Brown Sugar Glaze

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2011
This is my favorite glaze recipe! I didn't use the cloves and I didn't have oranges so I just used some orange juice. I bought a ham for $1.50/ lb and sliced it and glazed it myself. I am pretty sure I saved about $30.00

Cranberry Orange Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2010
10/5/10 Fabulous, just the way they are. I zested two oranges to get enough orange zest for the recipe and the juice from both of them was enough for the recipe. Followed the recipe exactly. I also tried baking them at 300 to ensure they kept their shape but it took to long, about 25 minutes, and was unecessary.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2010
Well, I was out of vegetable oil and vanilla which is weird for me so I substituted a 1/2 cup of melted butter flavor shortening and a 1/4 tsp of almond extract and a few dashes of cinnamon and these were fantastic! This will be the waffle recipe I use from now on. My husband bought me a regular waffle maker for Christmas last year when I wanted a belgium waffle maker but this recipe makes up for the difference! Big, fluffy, crispy waffles!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2010
8/30/10 Pretty good crust recipe. Will try 1/3 whole wheat flour next time. Good tip is to let the pizza dough rise on the pan for 10 - 15 minutes before cooking. Also tastes good with a couple tablespoons of garlic and some italian seasoning. 12/31/10 Heat the pizza stones up before making the pizzas. This creates a delicious crust. Also I still love adding chopped garlic and italian seasonings to the dough although this time I was out of italian seasoning so I used basil and oregano. Yum!

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2010
All I can say is YUM! So easy! I used Bullseye Hickory BBQ sauce and I left out the worcestershire sauce, just because I was out but it was so delicious! I served on buns with coleslaw. My husband is a bird hunter and we will be trying this with duck or goose in the fall!

Key Lime Pie VII

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
This recipe was fabulous! It was a little to tart but I don't know how I would change that. The only thing I will change is that next time I will add a little food coloring to get a green tint.

Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
2011 Perfect recipe. I have made lemon meringue pie before and have always had problems. This recipe was the perfect balance between sour and sweet. I did substitute milk for water but that was the only change I made. I made this for Easter and took the last piece to my Grandma after our dinner because this is her favorite pie. 2012 Made this for Easter again - It's better to let the filling cool completely before making the meringue. Otherwise, you get a pool of sugary syrup and the two layers don't stick together. It was still very delicious! Also, I like to use 8 egg whites with 8 tbl of sugar so there is tons of meringue!

Herbed Twice-Baked Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2010
Ok. I used neufanchel cheese because I had it from another recipe, parsley instead of basil, added 3 tsp of chopped garlic and sprinkled cheddard cheese on top when I baked them the second time. I also omitted the garlic powder because I had added chopped garlic to the recipe. Great starter recipe!

Easy Beer Bread Mix

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2012
This was delicious! I didn't have self-rising flour so I followed the advice of other reviewers and used 3 cups regular flour to 2 tsp of baking powder without adding additional baking powder. I did not use the italian seasoning as I knew my hubby would not like it and I did use 1/3 cup brown sugar instead of 1/4. This was amazing!!!

Chicken Satay

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2009
Not what I was expecting... to bad! 06/01/10 Much better, I didn't even realize I had tried this before until I came to review it. I used 3Tbl of pb instead of 2 and a little less soy sauce. I baked it at 350 for 30 minutes and used House of Tang peanut sauce for dipping. Really good. A Keeper.

This bread was delicious but next time I will use two smaller loaf pans so it doesn't fall all over the bottom of my oven.

I loved this recipe. I added about a tablespoon of flour to thicken a bit but other than that it was a great basic sauce.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2009
I loved it but my boyfriend didn't like the beer taste. I would give it five stars but since he usually eats everything I eat.... 9/15/10 Tried this again but this time I used about 3/4 cup red wine instead of beer and added a tbl of Worcestershire, onion salt, rosemary and oregano. Yum! Served on Franz brand ballpark style buns. 8/18/11 This time I used just two cans of soup called for and a splash of red wine vinegar. Hubby called me at work to ask for more bread to finish it off.

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2008
12/23 Ok - Here's what I did: used 1tlb rum to 6 fresh pulled shots of espresso from Starbucks. I brushed the mixture onto each of the lady fingers twice using a pastry brush but I didn't use all of the mixture, so I probably could of halved the ingredients. However, I think they could have used more espresso flavor so next time I will brush the lady fingers with four layers. I also used 3 packages of lady fingers and made three layers instead of two in an 8x8 brownie pan. I also added 1 1/2 tbl powdered sugar in the whipped cream. Everything else I did the same. Tasted Great!

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
12/2/10 Really good. Used a pinch of thyme and a pinch of basil. Did not add hot sauce but had it out for others to put into their soup. Also, we did not put cheese on the top but instead some parsley flakes and crumbled bacon.

Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2011
Great recipe. I stir fried the chicken with some crushed red pepper and asian seasoning. I had a bag of stir fry vegies from the store so I stir fried those with a whole chopped yellow onion. At the end I only used 1/2 cup water but added a couple tablespoons of soy sauce, a tsp of chopped garlic and a 1/2 tbl of peanut oil. Yum!
