About this Cook
In my late twenties, excited to have more time to cook and experiment now that I have a summer of transition between Chiropractic school and the beginning of my new career! Especially interested in baking and cake decorating, though I'm coming along with cooking (meat dishes especially).
My favorite things to cook
Stir fry with a variety of marinades, soups, anything Mexican (though I need a class!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My brother and I would take turns cracking eggs, and would fight over the egg beaters (with raw cookie dough or brownie batter). My mother is like the Tazmanian Devil in the kitchen, as she has 4 or 5 things going at once. I prefer to take my time with 1 or 2!
My cooking triumphs
I just baked a Texas Sheet Cake for my husband's birthday in March, 2008. The decorations were elementary at best, but it took me 3 hours and tasted fabulous!
My cooking tragedies
I tried making granola and the first time I burned it to smithereens. I even had added the dried fruit before baking (oops!), so my "golden raisins" were little carbon crunchies.

Jennifer's Granola
This stuff is delicious. I made it exactly according to the recipe. Since I didn't want it to burn (like I'd read in other posts), I only baked it a total of 45 minutes or so. I still like the consistency of it, but it's not as crunchy. I might try either baking it longer or spreading it out on two different cookie sheets so the layers are thinner (in just one pan, even a 9X13, it's still piled pretty deep). Love the variability too -- I added some chopped dates to give it that flavor, and really any dried fruit would go well in here! Thank you!

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos
I used this recipe to give flavor to some chicken I wanted to use in chicken fajitas. I had already baked the chicken, so I just mixed all the ingredients for the sauce in a saute pan, added the chicken (cut into small slices), and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. The flavor is fantastic!
