Old Fashioned Potato Salad

Made this yesterday for Canada Day and it was a hit! My brother in law loves potatoe salad so I made two types from this site, this one and "Worlds Best". Both are terrific..world's best for those who like creamier salad and old fashioned for those who like their salad firmer and not so sloppy..like me! Very tasty, thanks for the recipe!

Honey Garlic Ribs

Don't know what happened to the flavour, there wasn't any. Precooked the ribs as others did, then followed the recipe exactly. Ribs were tender, but did not taste of either honey or garlic, just bland. Won't be making these again.

Sour Cream Burgers

Loved these burgers. Altered recipe to make two servings and they turned out fantastic. Moist, flavourful and very easy to prepare. Grilled them on convection in my toaster oven for 6 mins. each side and they were perfect. Husband thanked me three times for the great lunch! A definate keeper.

Oven Brown Rice

This rice is very good. Instead of butter I followed others advice and substitute olive oil. Also use garlic powder instead of salt and reduce the season salt to 1/8 tsp. I also saute mushrooms and chopped onion and add to the rice mixture, then bake. Turns out fantastic although mine does take 1 hour and 10 minutes, but that may be my oven!

Cranberry Applesauce Muffins

Read the reviews and decided to try these using what changes others had recommended. They were okay, but really didn't have a lot of flavour. I used fresh cranberries and increased the cinnamon and added nutmeg, but still something was missing.

Ham and Cheese Muffins

I've made these a few times now and they are great! I recommend buying the self-rising flour, it's just easier although I have made them using the "substitute" flour as well. Use either extra old or old Cheddar for more flavour.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Our local butcher shop didn't recieve their big turkeys so they improvised and gave me two 12 pound birds. Ended up cooking one on Christmas Eve as my roasting pan just couldn't accomodate two birds. This recipe was very easy and the turkey turned out great. Even though it cooked faster than the recipe states (was done in 3&1/2 hours) it was still moist and everyone loved it. I did add fresh rosemary and sage to the butter and I reduced the season salt to 1 TBSP as it looked like enough and it was. I also took another reviewers advice and did not put the parsley in with the broth, but rather sprinkled it over the bird after the broth had been poured. Great recipe!

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Made these for Christmas dinner they were a big hit. My brother in law was still talking about them when he left! I left the skin on the potatoes which made them kind of festive. They were a bit lumpy, but everyone still loved them. Not having a pot full of potatoes on the stove while cooking the turkey was terrific too!

Marinated Pork Tenderloin

Fantastic marinade! I marinated my tendeloin overnight and was a bit worried the flavour might be overpowering but it was just right! The pork was very tender and had just the right amount of flavour! Will definately make again and again!

Mushroom Kabobs

Love the flavour. Instead of just brushing the flavored oil on the kabobs I marinated them in the oil for approx. 4 hours. Also didn't have fresh herbs so used half the amount called for in dried variety. Excellant Veggies!

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Excellant! The marinade makes the chicken very tasty but not over powering. Didn't have pineapple so used thick slices of zuchinni, marinated the chicken, mushrooms and zuchinni for a couple of hours before grilling.

Onion-Topped Chicken

Good recipe,will make again! The potatoes needed alot longer to cook, so next time I would quarter them. I did add an 1/8 tsp of salt,pepper,thyme and rosemary (sprinkled) over the chicken prior to topping with soup. Chicken was very moist and tender.
