Pumpkin Parfait

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
Love this! A cool (easy) and refreshing dessert. You can use cheesecake flavored pudding as well for a different taste.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: May 30, 2008
Beautiful and delicious! These are the perfect oatmeal cookie. I substituted margarine for the butter and regular shortening for the butter flavored shortening, but other than that left the recipe as is. These are great with chocolate chips, craisins, raisins and walnuts, or any other mixins you like! If you don't like the clove flavor, you can leave it out and up the cinnamon a little.

German Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
Love this cake! If you think the sauerkraut taste is a little strong, just rinse it off before chopping it. It adds a nice texture to this cake. The only change I made was substituting applesauce for the butter, which turned out great. This is a very moist cake recipe. I frosted it with the Chocolate Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting on this site - a big hit!

Chocolate Coconut Cream Cheese Frosting

Great frosting for chocolate and coconut lovers! I used it in place of the traditional German Chocolate Cake frosting and it was delicious. Wouldn't change a thing!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
These are pretty good brownies - the texture is moist and chewy and the flavor is good as well. They are a little sweet however - I would recommend cutting back slightly on the sugar unless you have a real sweet tooth! I have tried substituting applesauce for the butter, and found that it still has the same delicious texture and flavor without all the added fat.

Chewy Granola Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2008
These are delicious bars, however I would describe them more as cookie bars rather than granola bars. I substituted applesauce for most of the butter, and added craisins, raisins, and pecans as mixins.

Chewy Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2008
I would give this 3 1/2 stars if I could. These cookies had a nice flavor, but I was not overly impressed with them, and I have definitely tasted better. The second time around I added 1 cup of quick oats in place of 1 cup of flour and this made the texture better. I only cooked mine for 10 minutes - any longer than that and they ended up very crispy, not at all soft. They do spread - they are not puffy cookies after they have cooled. I may make this again, but I think I will probably keep looking for a softer peanut butter cookie.

Cinnamon Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2008
This is the first time I tried making homemade syrup, and this recipe was simple and easy to follow. I thought this syrup was good, I cut down a little on the cinnamon because I am not a huge cinnamon fan. I still prefer real maple syrup, but this is a nice recipe to have when there is no maple syrup around!

Pumpkin-Apple Muffins with Streusel Topping

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
This is a great recipe for pumpkin muffins! I substituted applesauce for the oil in the muffins and for the butter in the streusel topping, I also added 3 T. of rolled oats to the topping. They turned out with a great texture - slightly crispy on the outside and very moist on the inside. I cooked them for exactly 30 minutes. The apples and pumpkin flavor really compliment each other. This is the third pumpkin muffin recipe on this site I have tried, and it was by far both the easiest to make and best tasting!!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
Great cookie! Delicious flavor and perfect amount of sweetness. Texture is great too - soft and chewy with a little crunchiness from the oats. I was able to make a low fat version by substituting applesauce for the butter, but doing that does require to add an extra 1/2 - 1 cup of oats. I also mixed in a combination of raisins, chopped pecans, and dried wolfberries, and that was delicious. These cookies only spread slightly, so make them the size and flatness you want.

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
I would give these 5 stars just for how nice these cookies look! They came out a little paler than most chocolate cookies, but after 13 minutes in my oven the texture/crispiness was perfect (I have a very small old oven). My 3 year old and husband both loved them. They were also very simple to make. Thanks for sharing!

Banana Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
These have a nice texture and flavor. They are moist and do not fall apart. The oats add a slight crunch. The bananas make these sweet without being overbearing, and the sour cream adds a little tartness. I substituted applesauce for the butter in the muffin, and nonfat plain yogurt for the sour cream, and they were still delicious. I will definitely make these again!

Apricot Cream Cheese Thumbprints

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2007
Wow, these are GREAT!! I wasn't too sure about the apricot filling, but they are a perfect compliment to the cream cheese and slightly tangy lemon. I did some with apricot preserves and some with raspberry jam, and both were delicious. These are light cookies that just melt in your mouth. It is hard to stop with just one!

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
Yummy cookies! The flavor is great - perfect spicy little cookie. They stay chewy as long as you don't cook them too long - 8 minutes was perfect for me. I rolled them in colored sugar (green and red) and they made pretty Christmas cookies. I too added 2 T. of corn syrup like a previous reviewer suggested.

Acini di Pepe Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
SO GOOD!!! I made this to bring to a potluck Christmas party and it was a big hit. I did add an extra partial can of oranges because I didn't think it had enough. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly and it turned out wonderful. It made a huge amount but still managed to be entirely gone by the end of the party.

Easy Decadent Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
This is the third year I have used this recipe for truffles. My whole family (and friends and neighbors) are in love with these. I have rolled them in powdered sugar, coconut, ground pecans, and sprinkles. I have also dipped them in milk chocolate and white chocolate - my husband's favorite is the white chocolate dipped. This is a very simple recipe and versatile, because it can be changed according to your tastes. Thanks for sharing!!

Pistachio Cream Cheese Fingers

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2007
These are delicious! They taste like soft sugar cookies with a lighter texture, a little salt, and a pistachio flavor. It is easy to eat a lot of them. I rolled mine into balls and slightly flattened them, then drizzled half with semi-sweet chocolate and half with white chocolate. They were a big hit with the whole family.

Coconut Cranberry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
This is an absolutely delicious bar. Cooking time of 26 minutes was perfect for soft, chewy bars. I did cut back a little on the pecans, putting about 1/2 a cup, and also chopped them into smaller pieces.

Storybook Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
This is the first time I have made gingerbread cookies, and this recipe was not only easy to follow, but the cookies looked and tasted great! I love the mild flavor - most gingerbread I have tried in the past has been too spicy. I will definitely be making these again.
