New college grad as a Medical Assistant. I still love my college-esqe comfort foods. Canned spaghetti and meatballs (Chef Boradee) is my ideal!! A more recent comfort food is penne alfredo, which I make with vodka and butter. Delish!
I love cooking, but rarely have time anymore! I cook for friends, family, and my boyfriend. I think he loves my cooking more than I love to cook.
I've also taken to cooking for my class mates and office co-workers. One of them feel in love with me over my brownies.
My favorite things to cook
My meat loaf!!! It's such a changeable item....I use whatevers on hand (carrots?? peas?? raisins??) and whatever seasoning I have lying in the cupboard! =) It's killer with my mashed potatoes!!!
Lately my meatloaf has 'grown up'...gone with the powders and in with the fresh ingredients. My mashed potatoes are still killer....or as my friend called it 'wicked'. She was on a diet at the time.....
I'm also really into Tuscan style foods. I whip up a Tuscan steak, serve it with cracked peppercorns and lemon juice. A salad to go with, some crusty bread and a glass of chianti.
I've also branched out into making things up as I go along. Find a base recipie and adapt adapt adapt. It works for me!
My favorite family cooking traditions
The holidays! We all take turns cooking the dishes, and I am the only grandchild that makes dishes. My usual holiday cooking duties are the mashed potatoes (of course!) and sweet potatoes. I've also been recently in charge of the crab dip and mussels.
Super Bowl Sunday is also a big favorite, I make some mean (and artery clogging) dips, that is gone in a flash.
My cooking triumphs
When I can sucessfully cook and item without burning it or ruining any pots or pans along the way!
Also, if I make a dish with an ingredient that someone doesn't like (such as seafood), my biggest pleasure is when that person enjoys something I make with said item! Seafood haters love my crab dip......
My cooking tragedies
I BURNED MY MEATLOAF!!!!
Not enough salt in a chiken curry. Too much spice in a chicken curry....my Indian food really needs improving, but I am slowly getting there.
