Eileen's Spicy Gingerbread Men

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2014
I've used this recipe for several years now and have never had a problem with it - I make it exactly as it is. The dough is easy to roll out and the cookies come out tasting fantastic. Do watch while they are in the oven - it depends on how thin you've rolled out your dough and how hot your oven runs. It's just common sense no matter what the cookie recipe.

Classic Goulash

Very, very delicious! The only thing I added was chopped, green pepper. I also cut the recipe in half, and it still makes a lot! Will definitely be making this again.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2014
I have a recipe that is very, very similar to this - the only difference is that I use 1 1/2 cup of sugar instead of 2 1/4 cups. To me, that almost sounds like too much sugar. I also add raisins - anywhere from 1/2 cup to 1 cup. Makes for a nice, chunky bread. Everything else is spot on, so I know this recipe is a winner.

Grandma's Apple Cookies

I do like these. Make sure not to use too much apple or they will be very moist and will fall apart.

Oatmeal Cranberry White Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2014
Great recipe! I tend to leave out the chips and add vanilla and a little cinnamon. As a nut lover, I've also added almonds. I do say that the recipe was terrific as is as well. They don't spread, so if you want a flatter cookie, flatten it slightly before you bake it.

Pizza Pinwheels

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2014
I use this recipe all the time for family get-togethers and I never have any leftovers. I do chop up the pepperoni a bit for ease of rolling. I've also mixed oregano and garlic powder with the mozzerella cheese for a bit of extra flavor. I spray the top of the rolls with non-stick cooking spray (or one can use an egg wash) and then sprinkle the tops with parmesan cheese and then bake. Remember, a little bit goes a long ways and makes it easier to roll up - don't go thinking a lot of filling would be better - it won't.

Quick and Easy Home Fries

Easy basic recipe as is. I do often substitute a little bit of bacon grease for flavoring and add sliced onion along with the potatoes. Very yummy.

The texture of this was very nice and fluffy but they tasted awfully bland. What did I do wrong?

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2012
This is a recipe I turn to many times. I do substitute milk for the water - I believe it makes a huge difference. I often prefer to cook this in the oven for about 1.5 to 2 hours at 325 (higher than that tends to dry it out).

Key Lime Cake III

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
Did I read this right, 1 1/3 cup of oil? I used 1/3 cup of oil and it came out just fine. I was afraid to go as I read it as I thought for sure I'd ruin the recipe!

Chocolate Yeast Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2007
This is really good. It took a while for it to rise for me - way more than one hour, but that's ok. It's a dense bread, but wow - great flavor. Reminds me of a chocolate cookie but not overly sweet. This is terrific toasted with peanut butter (I'm a chocolate-peanut butter freak!) I plan to make this a part of a Christmas baked gift package for my MIL and SIL - they both LOVE chocolate and I believe they would love this.

Traditional White Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
This is absolutely terrific! The bread came out light and fluffy and very tasty. I did reduce the amount of salt - put in about 2 tsp instead of 1 Tbsp. I liked this way more than the 'popular' white bread on this same site. This is what homemade bread should taste like.

Very easy to work with, but was a tad sweet for me. If I make this next time, I will use less sugar.
